RE: App St. is only in talks with CUSA???
The reason I do think there is legs to the "App to CUSA"story is if the CUSA feels they may have taken the big market thing too far with UNCC and are considering rebounding a bit with a strong program or two. My guess is App and MTSU will be 15 and 16.

Just get App, JMU, Delaware, Liberty, and GaSo into the FBS somewhere, anywhere - SBC, CUSA, MAC it doesn't really matter. Then when it all comes crashing down in five years, out of th ashes you've got the stable, competitive East Coast FBS conference that has been discussed in App circles for over a decade.

Hate to admit it but this makes some sense. Am I missing something?

Yes. No FCS program meets the standard of "strong program" for CUSA. If they want to add credibility to their football offerings by go after small market teams, they will go after current FBS teams. MTSU and WKU are far more likely than ApSt.

However, I don't think they care - value lies in the perception of strength, and that can be gained more through solidifying your footprint (especially compared to the SBC) than adding FCS teams. So, I see them as more likely to go after FAU (gets the SBC out of FL), WKU and MTSU.
