RE: Future Sun Belt Expansion - UNF?
Gulf Coast is nowhere near ready, but they do have blue hairs that give to that university. Guys I'm telling ya, it's YEARS, as in more than 10. ETSU plays them yearly, even their pride and joy, baseball STINKS this year. They're only a game or two ahead of us down near the bottom of the A-Sun.
UNF couldn't draw flies if they had a pile of horse poop in their arena.
That's not to say, YEARS DOWN THE ROAD that both FGCU and UNF both won't have football, and move up. Until then, there are way too many other schools to even debate/talk about who are playing football that could move up, or even non-footballers that have the infrastructure/budget to get it done.

Wish ET would add football back.

You and everyone else. The whispers are that the new prez is in a "mourning" period. Even if ETSU brought it back, the budget isn't there to even remotely compete in the Sun Belt. Someday maybe, you may not be old enough to remember there was a decent rivalry in the old days between us. Until then, ETSU, UNF, FGCU and other schools with solid potential will continue to take leftovers at the homeless shelter conference.

It was a bad decision for ETSU to drop football. Is it the only school in the state without football?

Why? Were they MTSU's biggest rival, or something?

RE: Future Sun Belt Expansion - UNF?
Back in the old, OLD OVC days, pre ETSU/SoCon they had a pretty good thing going to my recollection. As time passed, MT continued to grow and prosper, ETSU didn't. Had they invested the way MT did, we could easily see the two have a good instate rivalry.
And yes, ETSU is the only state supported Division I institution in Tennessee without football. But that's not what this is about. The expansion topic involving UNF, Gulf Coast or other A-Sun members is interesting, but tough. The Sun Belt has taken alot of A-Sun alums (Troy, FAU, FIU, etc...) but those are also schools who have generated revenue and taken a stance to grow.
As I said in another thread, if and when App come to the Sun Belt, from what I've seen of your towns and Boone, you guys will LOVE that trip.
