Coach Malzahn at Auburn in 2013

Release: 05/08/2012

The Arkansas State Athletics Department announced Tuesday that it has added Auburn to its 2013 football schedule . . the contract for the Auburn game calls for a $1.1-million guarantee, the largest in ASU history and the fourth of at least $1 million.

A-State received a $1-million payout for its 2010 season opener at Auburn and its 2011 game at Virginia Tech, while the contract for the Red Wolves' game in Nebraska in 2012 calls for the same.

The contract for A-State's 2012 season opener at Oregon is $950,000 and also guaranteed the Red Wolves national exposure with a game on ESPN2, which was fulfilled during the 2011 season.

Cajuns did that already this year...they parlayed 900k from Florida for a 2012 game, Florida changed the date twice and each time it cost them 50k. I would like nothing more than to get paid to go to Ben Hill Griffin and lay one on them. Prolly won't happen though.

Going to be a tough game, I think, seeing as how by that time AU's new coordinators will have had time to sort things out. Hopefully ASU can pull it off.

And Aplin will be gone. But Dyer will be our starting RB. I wonder if in recent history a player has started against a team he once started for?

stAte has received 1 Million before. This time it is apparently 1.1 Million - a new high water mark.

If I'm not mistaken, we received 1 million from Auburn a couple of years ago.

The thing is that stAte can actually win that game. I don't think AU will be all that great over the next couple of years and that Chizik won't be there after two more years. Which means that with any success by Malzahn at stAte could mean he would be back on the Plains for the HC job in a few years.

It was actually $1.3MM paid to ULM for the FSU game.

Florida State will pay Louisiana-Monroe $1.3 million to play the Seminoles at Doak Campbell Stadium in 2011, according to the game contract Florida State released earlier today. In the past, similar games against non-conference opponents have cost Florida State far less.

The reason why the Louisiana-Monroe game is so costly is because Florida State had been scrambling to quickly fill its 2011 schedule after FSU and Air Force mutually agreed to cancel a two-game series that had been set for 2011 and 2012. Florida State wanted to fill the 2011 schedule with a Division I-A opponent.

If Malzahn beat Auburn in 2013, will he be HC at Auburn in 2014 ?

I don't think Dyer is qualified to play this year with the transfer rules. I also heard something about being eligible.
