You are right. It seems Southern has came back to Benson with a good presentation for why they are ready to join for the 2013 season. Also seems App is pushing for Southern too.

That is not surprising at all. I doubt App would turn down an invite with the expectation that GA Southern would come in a year or two later but making the move together would be best-case for us.

Getting an invite to a new conference is great, but getting your biggest rival to come with you? Win-Win for both of the teams and the conference.

It sounds like only one more school will be invited at this time. He says he wants to get to 12, whether it's one football or non-football school. Seems UTA may not be a lock after all. Guess nothing will happen until the meeting on May 22.

Right - he said it hasn't been discussed, he left off "by the entire group of executives".....as he was walking into a conference call with the executives.

exactly...probably why there is no news..they may be rethinking the addition of uta..or waiting for uta to run the numbers on addition of football so as to make a commitment or not...

I can't see them not having discussed NMSU. I would say if they haven't then he hasn't been doing his job.

There are 9 schools with a vote on adding any new members right now and none are west of Louisiana and Arkansas. Benson was probably invited to not bring up NMSU at this time.

Heard him on Finebaum today. He said he'd been contacted by NMSU & Idaho but the conference hadn't seriously discussed adding either to the SBC.
