Should be on the general board but had to share
Well, I decided that Thursday night was a good night to have a few beers. A local tavern was having an auction to raise money for the local education system. Our mayor (small town) decided to wear a vest that had "f*ck the war" written on the back. Well, being retired army I got just a bit perturbed so I followed him out. And in a plesant tone....well not so plesent.....I informed him that better men (and women) than he had died to make sure that he could write that on the back of his vest. Piece of crap....good thing I was in a civil mood!!
Sorry for posting on the main board but got so pissed. Flame me if you want!

Your mayor is a dung heap. Fine for him to voice his opinion, but glad he's so willing to teach kids new words and publicly disclose the fact he is a gutter mouth.

I'm not in favor of this war either. I do not support sending kids to die for bull**** reasons. Don't delude yourself. What freedom are they protecting by killing a bunch of Afghan sheep herders with AK-47s? Do you honestly believe that a bunch of suicide bombers and radicals who can't shoot for **** are going to invade us?
WW2 was about protecting our freedom. These wars are simply being fought to insure specific interests. I am all in favor of taking out the Taliban and Al Qaeda but we do not need to invade two countries to do accomplish that goal.
I support the troops. I shake their hands and thank them every single chance I get. It is because I support them that I do not support them dying needlessly in wars that are not just and that are not necessary. I would have the same freedoms that I enjoy today had we never been engaged with these countries.
Over 66,000 Iraqi civilians have died due to this conflict. No one ever talks about that though. You don't see that **** on the news. I am neither proud of these wars nor am I satisfied with how these wars have been carried out. How many of our own people have come home without limbs? Worse? Didn't come home at all? For ******* what?
You don't see many of these people when they are alone at home. Many suffer for the rest of their lives. Alcoholism, suicide, dementia, immense PTSD, etc... This is worth exactly what to you? So you can criticize/attack someone for exercising the same rights that you claim to be so proud exist in the first place? What kind of ****** up, twisted ass logic is that?
So, go on and call me un-American and all that other bull**** rhetoric. I pay my taxes, work my ass off, love my family, and am proud to be here just like all of you. It isn't like you have the monopoly on the right to define the *** **** meaning of the word patriotism.
That is why I say **** the war. Because I actually care about these poor men and women that are in this situation. They sacrifice far more than anyone else.

Exactly. I hate the war, not the troops fighting it.
Maybe that's what your mayor was going for and just missed the mark a little.
