There's very little chance Georgia State would have accepted the Sun Belt invite without 100% assurance that C-USA wouldn't be calling anytime soon.
CUSA is taking 5 of 6 market schools in this round (UNT, FIU, UTSA, UNCC, ODU), 3 or which are start-ups.
It's pretty clear to me that Ga State was SO anxious to get their FBS cherry popped that they played themselves out of that last CUSA spot. Since CUSA is obviously after market, objectively, they'd certainly want Atlanta over Ruston.
So yeah, in Ga State's rush to be FIRST, they now get to whine and complain about being in the Sun Belt instead of CUSA.
We weren't in a rush, we were forced to play our hand to avoid a potential CAA exit fee. I don't think it cost us a CUSA invite, nor do many posters. Just like Texas St and UTSA both schools wanted CUSA for the name brand.....
But I think the Sun Belt fits GSU nicely geographically......Overall, we are just happy to be FBS! Go SBC!

Again, kinda like Texas St / UTSA.....name brand.....but if you ask GSU fans openly they will admit the SBC is the better fit geographically and for travel.
