RE: My SA reporting UTA and Texas State to SBC
As more and more rumors get out, I think this is a done deal.
Like they say,
Two people can keep a secret, if one of them is dead.
Welcome to the Belt TXST!

RE: My SA reporting UTA and Texas State to SBC
Uhg. Why UTA? Uhg. DO. NOT. APPROVE. This means 14 teams for one auto bid.
This means two non football schools in the West (UALR to the East???)
This means another outlier that we didn't need to add.
And for what? By what unwritten law do we have to be in Texas? What does UTA add?
And how long will it be until UTA is grandfathered in as a start up football program because of this?
What a cluster %^&*.

Gotta reward those who don't play football, apparently.
I don't have a problem with Texas State, however.

Don't get the UT-A add either. Can't wait to see what the new divisions are.
At least they do play pretty good basketball.

UTA is going to be in the same kind of BoT hell that plagues UAB unless I am misunderstanding their situation.
Adding programs that are eager to grow and have good support from their decision makers seem like good adds to me. Regardless of where they start, at least they have the potential to help the conference grow.
So I am chalking TXST up as a win.
Schools like UTA and UALR are just in such horrible situations since they are governed by BoT's with a Flagship Favorite that I can't see how they would ever manage success on the football field.
Maybe Texas isn't as bad as other states. UTEP and UTSA aren't (in my perception) nearly as neglected as UAB.

We could go geographically for everything but football. During football, play everyone (nine teams + 2 ooc)
Txstate / UTA
Louisiana / Monroe
Ark st / UaLR
FaU / Georgia State
Troy / South
Middle / WKU
Or we go Big Ten and do something random
Gods division
Texas state, Louisiana, FAU, USA, Georgia State, UaLR
Generals division
Arlington, Ark State, Western, Middle, Troy, Monroe

So add Ga Southern and App to make 12 football players ?
I'm be OK with UT-A as long as App gets added for all sports, and No NMSU.

Put the Cajuns in our division, and leave ULM in the "Gods" division

Im down with that. NMSU is just way to far west. GA South and App make us 12 in football and were good to go.

It's nice. Maybe it will be used to recruit the players that will knock existing Sunbelt teams out of the tournament that awards our conference's ONE NCAA bid.
But on the other hand now that we have added a couple of teams in Texas I guess we can justify keeping the tournament in Hot Springs Arkansas. Yay.

RE: My SA reporting UTA and Texas State to SBC
Well...with this, and if you believe the NMSU rumor, your basketball/Olympic Sports divisions could look like this:
EAST
- Georgia State
- Florida Atlantic
- Western Kentucky
- Middle Tennessee
- Troy
- South Alabama
- App. State/Charlotte/Georgia Southern
WEST
- Arkansas State
- Arkansas-Little Rock
- Louisiana-Monroe
- Louisiana-Lafayette
- Texas State
- Texas-Arlington
- New Mexico State
Football, could be:
EAST
- Georgia State
- Florida Atlantic
- Western Kentucky
- Middle Tennessee
- Troy
- App. State/Charlotte/Georgia Southern
WEST
- South Alabama
- Arkansas State
- Louisiana-Monroe
- Louisiana-Lafayette
- Texas State
- New Mexico State

And they can funnel all of their money to hoops, since they don't play a lick of football.

most likely they will add nmsu and uta will restart thier football program..then you would have uta nmsu tsu astate u-laf and ulm in the west.

I do not see us adding NMSU. There are too many teams against it. Besides, rumor is NMSU isnt interested

Really?
All the stuff I am reading online says that NMSU is practically throwing hookers through Benson's windows.
