Any idea why there is no mention of a board meeting or anything on your end about CUSA. With several set to announce this week, I figured you guys would be in there too.

From what I'm reading on our board. It sounds as if this has been pretty much a done deal since back in the Feb/March time frame. Also, I don't think the same rules apply in Florida as they might in Texas.
There was a blurb in the Herald about it and the FIU AD said that serious talks have been going on for a long time (so no denial there, more a confirmation). Anyways, he's playing it by the book and the Herald doesn't care enough to do any digging, they'll just wait for an official announcement.

RE: FIU Fans
I've been hearing/reading the same thing that FIUFan just posted here. There's no mention anywhere of a BOT meeting in the very near future that I can find. Either that phase has already been covered a while ago or it was never needed, I would guess.

Here is the article...
Sources: FIU to join Conference USA in full
By David J. Neal
dneal@miamiherald.com
FIU sources confirmed reports that the school, already a part of Conference USA for men’s soccer, will join the conference fully in 2013.
An official announcement of the transition should come within the next two weeks.
FIU athletic director Pete Garcia would say only, “We’re in very serious discussions with Conference USA, and we’ve been talking to them for a while.”
This would be FIU’s third conference. The school has been in the Sun Belt Conference since 1998 and was in the Trans-America Athletic Conference from 1991 to ’98.
Conference USA needs to rebuild after losing UCF, SMU, Houston and Memphis to the Big East. Getting FIU would allow the conference to replace a large school in a large Florida TV market (UCF) with another large school in a large Florida TV market.

Also, keep in mind that AD Garcia is not a big fan of the SBC administration (or at least of WW), this quote is from 12/2010....
Quote:``Everybody's really excited about the conference championship and the bowl game we're going to,'' Garcia said. ``But do I agree that everything that's happened in this league and the bowl process? No, I don't agree with it.
``We're in this league, and they're the ones that dictate the rules. We have to live with them. But going forward, we're always going to leave all our options open.''

Not Pete's finest hour.
Nothing rankles me more than an AD who knows or SHOULD know the rules same as everyone else who throws a tantrum because the rules don't suit them at the end of the season.

I agree totally with Arkstfan's assessment of that unfortunate public comment.
