ODU already has a football program. I'm sure they'll be on the same timeline as Georgia State when it comes to their FBS transition. Except that ODU will be in C-USA and Georgia State will be in the Sun Belt.

Charlotte will begin their program at the FBS level just like South Alabama did.

Good luck to Charlotte trying to put together a FBS schedule with home games. South had a four year head start because we knew when we were going FBS. Unless Charlotte isn't moving up till 2016, they're going to find the going difficult.

And Georgia State is going to have the same issue.

Why don't we make sure Belt teams don't schedule Charlotte and ODU going forward? Hell, I'd even put the brakes on scheduling UNT and FIU. Make it hurt. We gotta get ahead somehow.

How about trying to convince Mizzou State and App State to come in instead of Ga Southern? One team for the west and one for the east. Sounds about right to me.

Hey, I think USA would be willing to schedule a fully FBS Charlotte in a 2 home games for us vs 1 home game for them.

FIU and UNT already have OOC schedules. They'll just switch the conference portion from SBC to CUSA.

Georgia State will be playing a Sun Belt schedule in 2013. So we'll only have 3/4 slots to fill.

Tough sell for App State......we see Ga South (as much as we are supposed to hate them) as part of our rivalry pitch. Our FBS Study found the need for regional rivals as a huge factor in moving. Southern while sort of outside the region unlike Charlotte and ECU, still gives our fans and admin the right zeal.

So far so good. Now if we can just App State and Georgia Southern and somehow avoid the nightmare bomb of NMSU and Idaho....I will be relieved.

Agreed. In my biased opinion, App State-Georgia Southern is the best rivalry at the FCS level today. 9 national titles between the two schools. Nearly even record all-time (14-12-1). Every game comes down to the wire. Both have rabid fanbases. We would be more valuable to the Sun Belt as a package deal.

RE: CUSA takes ODU and Charlotte
From an ECU fan's perspective, these grabs are great for Baseball & Basketball. After adding UTSA in FIU, two basketball programs that draw flies, getting Charlotte and ODU who each can draw 7,000+ fans is a real home run. ODU, Charlotte and FIU in baseball? Yes please.

I am not as thrilled about the Monarchs and 49ers in football, as those teams will be in our recruiting territory, but oh well... at least we will have a pair of drive-able home games once those teams get stadiums big enough to hold the 10,000 ECU fans sure to visit.

It's hard to be too excited considering in 2001 our conference had Louisville, Cincy, Memphis, TCU, Houston, etc. and now we'll be playing 3 teams that didn't have football programs 3 years ago, but hey, it is what it is. Welcome newbies.

MSU is a basketball school right now, and it will be hard to convince the school and its fans they should move to a much weaker basketball conference so they can have the chance to compete in football one day.

In addition, App and Southern could compete quickly for a title in the SBC. They already have strong programs, given full scholarships, it wont take them long. It might take ODU, Charlotte, and UTSA a few years because ODU is a mediocre team, and Charlotte and UTSA are brand new.

We need stronger FCS teams to balance out the struggles most of us expect Texas State, and Georgia State have getting adjusted to FBS football.

No we SHOULD schedule their teams for easy wins! While USA could have problems (no one is emempt), Im just waiting for one of the CUSA adds to strike out early as WKU did.

This is our chance to catch and pass CUSA...

Missouri St has indicated that have no interest in moving up.
If we take on App St and Ga So, I think we can be neck and neck with all other non AQ conferences, and close to the Big East too. I honestly don't see anyone but Tulsa, ECU, or Southern Miss competing for their football championship.

Theirs no question that CUSA will be down for a couple years after all the schools leave next season... The question is, can the programs we have left make a strong enough run to challenge them early?

Other than FIU the top Football teams remain in the SBC. stAte and ULL- Both made major strides and commitments to thier programs. Troy should bounce back soon as well

Basketball did take a step back with UNT being gone but FIU was no loss in that regards. MTSU is returning lots and WKU will always be respectable

There IS opportunity to catch CUSA.

ODU is far from mediocre. They've been very impressive so far.

It's hard to predict what USA will do in football for the next couple of years, but in baseball and basketball we are poised to move back to the top.

That will burn a ton of App fans who see us being considered second fiddle to UNCC as a slap in the face. IMHO I could care less.

They are the older folks although who don't really get the whole market TV appeal some of the these schools who haven't even played a snap of football have.

I was reading your message board earlier and got the same vibe. Some are in full panic mode. Others are calm and simply confused as to why CUSA wants a market thats never played football...
