Absolutely untrue. I loved Mobile. Yes, the stadium isn't the greatest, but the GoDaddy.com Bowl is a very well run event and the festivities in the days leading up to the game were light years ahead of the NOLA Bowl. Of course New Orleans is more fun as a city, but they don't cater to the game like Mobile does. I had a great time in Mobile.

Pound for pound, Mobile supports their bowl as much or more than any other bowl in the country. I truly hate we lost that bowl. In New Orleans most of the locals don't even know the Bowl game is being played, much less who's in it.

Now that the Cajuns have played in New Orleans, the city knows who is in it.

RE: New bowls for the SBC!!
I think the Dauphin Street area was caught offguard by how many MT fans came to the game.

The place across the street from the hotel-- Veet's-- had ONE bartender working the bar the day of our arrival.

To their credit, they brought in more workers for that night and the following days.

An MT flag now proudly flies there.

Overall, I enjoyed the parade but probably had a better time in New Orleans. A lot of that has to do with us winning in the Big Easy, however.

Veets is a daytime bar. It caters to the sailors from the ships in the port. The nighttime bars are up on Dauphin Street (west of Bienville Square). They'll learn.

I fully expect CUSA to lose the Liberty and Beef O'Brady.

The only way CUSA loses Beef O'Brady is because the game goes out of business (very possible if the 7 win rule is implemented).

You can be certain that the SBC will not be picking up a bowl in Tampa now that FIU is out the door and and FAU possibly as well.

ACC is hoping to leave Kraft Fight Hunger and possible Independence. Beef O'Brady is rumored to be one of their targets.

How is it a MAC fan is such an expert on everything Sun Belt? You come across as arrogant and a know-it-all, so basically, annoying. Back off man.

Biggest problem is if the go to 7 win requirement a few of the bottom bowls will go away.

Are they planning to revamp the stadium in Mobile anytime soon? I was just curious. It definitely has potential, just needs upgrades.

Not really. We're stuck with Ladd (and yes, its an old, but big and free, dump) until we build an OCS.

Atleast it isn't as bad as Legion Field. That is the worst FBS home stadium I have ever been to.

Hopefully 3-4 bids are possible in the near future. I would love another one vs the MAC to try to close the gap.

You obviously never went to Lockhart then did you? I think it was below even Legion because of size and location.

They just made Phil Savage the new executive director of the Senior Bowl.

I ain't saying that means Ladd will get some upgrades.
But I think her chances just got better.

Funny..seems like everyone else had a good time in Mobile. The GoDaddy Bowl has more financial backing than the New Orleans Bowl by the way.

Yes, our stadium is old.

When I visited for the MT vs. Ohio game, everything on Dauphin Street was closed. After the game, we literally had to drive to the other side of Mobile to find a restaurant that was open. There were parents with young kids at our hotel (the team hotel) that just wanted to get their children food, but due to a mix up with the hotel, they closed the restaurant (and room service) super early (before the game was over) so if you didn't own a car, then you were SOL. The team "locker rooms" at the stadium were tents...literally. Mobile just looked run down to me and that stadium needs a ridiculous amount of work. It was just an awful trip overall. I just can't believe GoDaddy puts that stadium on National TV. No offense, but with the bad location and huge need for improvements, I figured someone would have stepped up by now to change it.

Sorry to hear you didn't have a better time in Mobile during your bowl visit. On Nov. 17 of this year, your team (MTSU), will visit once again, this time to play USA's Jaguars. Maybe by then you could locate some good places to eat by going on the intenet. That's what most folks do when they visit another city. Mobile is loaded with some great restaurants and by the way, Ruth's Chris Steak House is only a few blocks from the stadium, plus there were plenty of places on Airport Blvd. There wasn't any reason for anyone to go hungry in Mobile. Hope that you have a better experience next time. BTW, we realize that Ladd-Peebles Stadium isn't the best venue for college football in your eyes, but please try to be patient because it's rent free (a gift from the owners, the city of Mobile) for 2 more years. It will have to do until we can build an on-campus stadium in another year or two.

We went last year, and thoroughly enjoyed the entire trip. The town was amazing in their support. Yeah, the stadium is old...but geez, the hospitality of the town and good food made up for any 'unsightly' looks of the stadium.

Ladd-Peebles hosts not just GoDaddy, but the Senior Bowl, which is like the NFL's recruiting convention. How Mobile keeps the Senior Bowl, considering the condition of Ladd-Peebles, is a miracle. Because the Senior Bowl visitors have much deeper pockets and generally return every year for multiple days, the hotels and restaurants seem to be much better prepared for it. Out-of-city visitors to the GoDaddy Bowl are much more hit or miss, and they generally only stay one or two nights.

Ladd-Peebles is in a not-so-good neighborhood, with practically all of eastern Mobile being a hodge-podge of upscale areas vs ramshackle vs projects. West Mobile is mostly middle class, with the exception of the Spring Hill district (upscale) and a poor area immediately west of USA (USA's mismanagement is actually responsible for much of that terrible tenant housing). If USA ever built a stadium near campus, the game traffic would be absolutely horrid (West Mobile traffic is already a nightmare). Building near Hank Aaron baseball stadium would offer parking and better interstate access.
