RE: UALR and UTA question....

I think UTA will start eventually, but the SBC will not force it. I think the league is fine with or without UTA football, so the administration can work to start a football program the right way.
UTA used to have a pretty good football program and many long time fans dropped thier support when the school dropped football. the students there and current fans would like to restart football and I think they probably will sooner than later, but they just opened a 78 million dollar arena and plan to upgrade the baseball/softball facilities next. The football stadium is 25 years old but is not a cheaply built facility and since local high schools use it a lot, the turf and track are kept up, so it's feasable that it could be expanded...but you can see billion dollar cowboy's stadium from the school so that could be maybe be used for a while.

UA will not have anything to do sportswise with the other arkansas schools because of Broyles..they do not want to give any stature to thier in-state competitors. they refuse to play them in any sport if they can get away with it.

UTA had a successful football program until the 80's and would likely restart it at some point. it is a large school (35,000) and still growing. the president is for it and the students have passed a fee to cover expanding the sports programs.
