Kawaun Jakes - 4 Ints in the last 8 games last year...

How does that compare to your QB?

Among next year's 8 returning starters Jakes has:

The second lowest completion percentage(on the second lowest number of attempts)

The second lowest number of TDs

The second worst TD/INT ratio

And he's going to somehow get better without Rainey who not only took a tremendous amount of pressure off the passing game, but also accounted for 24% of his completions, 21% of his passing yards, and 40% of his TDs?

On a related note, Troy only retained 18.8% of their passing game from 2010 going into their 2011 season. This season we return 92.6% and add Chip Reeves and Jamel Johnson back into the fold as well as three more JUCO receivers. I think Troy will be better offensively this year, I hope anyway.

FAU's Graham Wilbert was the worst in all three, IIRC, I closed the tabs that had all their stats open.

Yes, funny what handing off to one of the greatest running backs in the history of the conference can do for a sub-par quarterback.

Besides which, this thread is about WKU and what they're going to do in 2012, not what Middle Tennessee did in 2011 or will do in 2012. If we went 0-12 in 2011 and repeated that in 2012, it wouldn't make my point any less valid. One has nothing to do with the other. You just don't like the fact that I'm illustrating how WKU's 2012 title hopes are slim to none with Jakes under center so you're throwing MT's disappointing season in my face.

Jakes was dreadful when he was bad and mediocre at best, he had one above average performance in 2011 and that was against a decent North Texas squad.

Unless Jakes gets beaten out by a better quarterback, you aren't winning the conference this year. If your defense is as good as you expect and you're running game doesn't drop off too far, you may manage another winning season, but Jakes cannot lead a team to a conference title, and he won't be able to lead an offense that will be able to keep up with the prolific offenses we'll see in the Belt in 2012.

I expect MT to take a step forward in 2012 and WKU to take a step back. Maybe, I'm overly optimistic about my squad, but I have no reason to diminish Jakes. Save this thread, if you wish, bump it every time Jakes throws for 300 yards or 3 TDs and no INTs, or wins offensive POW, but I stand by what I said, Jakes is incapable of leading a team to a conference title, perhaps you'll have another winning season in spite of him, but I have my doubts about that as well.

God, Rainey was the MAN! Without him I think WKU will take a dip.

It's not that he's irreplaceable, I mean obviously there will be a dip, but with Jakes at QB, the loss of Rainey becomes much worse.

It's the West Coast offense...it's the West Coast offense people. WKU is able to keep all of the SBC spread offenses off the field. It's the ability to run the ball. The top teams in the Belt last year could run the ball. Most of our O line will be back. WKU will still run the ball effectively even without Rainey.

When you run the spread with and go 3 and out or throw INTs, it turns into 59-7 quickly. We used to do that with Elson as our coach...

YOU SPOKE OF HIM THAT SHALL NOT BE NAMED.

I have tried to block most of last season out except for the 1st game in the stadium.
