Unfortunantly I had to go with Tech. I'd rather they not get invited, but I think they'll be the first to join.

Hey I'm a newbie to the sunbelt as FAN. I used to root for the school in the gables before FIU got a team. Now i bleedd blue and gold. MY FIU degree helps my eat, not the othe school. yeah they are right if they say i couldnt afford. Hell didnt care to be a 100000 grand in debt for a freaking degree, which is overrated. Sorry for the digression.

I used to live in north central LA, it is depressing. With that said: "What is the big deal about TECH?" My wife is an alum and sometimes seems embarrased to tell anyone where she matriculated. Hell she is more proud about NCATT than tech.

the only seperation Tech has achieved is a seperation from reality.

Ruston is an awful place! The funny thing is they look down on ULM but have to do all their major shopping in Monroe. I know the football team has a little bit of history, but the fan base is not there. I ve been to that crappy stadium off the back road to Grambling.

I've heard from more than one person that Tech is pretty much a done deal. Have heard the same about Georgia State, but not from as reliable a source.

Tech is a former member of the 'belt and from what I gather, pretty much told the rest of the belt to "kiss my a$$ suckers!" on their way out. So expect the walk of shame if they come back to the 'belt.

Tech and Ga State most likely are done deals.

Why GA State? Are they going to fill Denver or New Orleans spots in non-football sports? If we expand to Georgia we need Georgia Southern, not a start up football program with no tradition/prestige.

Because Southern more than likely lacks the capital right now and I am afraid Benson might be expanding just for the sake of expanding, which means he may not wait for the perfect member.

Georgia State makes much more big picture sense than Georgia Southern does. It's an easy decision.

The only plus with GA State, that I can see, is Atlanta. No offense to GA State, but the only teams people care about are UGA, Tech, and Southern. GA State has that "commuter campus" feel to it. Of course that's just my opinion and I'm from Georgia.

There isnt a school in Georgia that is ready to move up. Ga State doesnt exactly own a market, and only has a fledgling program, Ga Southern has the program, but no market, and a weak administration. Southern has some big fundraising issues. In 5 years, it could be a different story.

Yeah and I live in Marietta and can assure you that Georgia State is the better addition.

Furthermore, your assertion that "the only schools people care about are UGA, Tech and Southern" is flat out wrong. For starters it probably goes

1)UGA
2-5)some order of Tennessee, Florida, Auburn, Bama
6)Tech
7-???)Some order of most of the rest of the SEC/Clemson/FSU

Then Southern
Then State

Georgia Southern has a bigger fanbase today, but they also have a lower ceiling.

With a move to FBS, Georgia State should have little problems getting their average attendance up to what is expected in the Sun Belt and they put us in Atlanta, albeit at the bottom pecking order of Atlanta, but Georgia Southern is a non-factor in the city as well, so as long as we're picking a school that's a non-factor, why not make it the one that's actually located in Atlanta, not the one 200 miles southeast of Atlanta.

Is Georgia Southern more ready to be a Sun Belt member tomorrow? Sure, but that's literally the only advantage they have, Georgia State brings much more upside as a program.

My list was intended to be just the pecking order for Georgia schools. In Columbus it would be Auburn, UGA, Alabama, Columbus State, and Southern. I still stand by Southern and all State has going for it is that it's in Atlanta.

Anyways, I support Texas State. 04-cheers

Wow! Really, were they that arrogant? I cant believe that! Not saying that you are lying. I am just saying Ruston is a dump. Well I guess if they come back and until FIU decides what they will do or moreso CUSA/Alliance, regarding our conference affiliation. So, then my wife and I can rival. The kids are already scream FF II UU - FIU.
