RE: Another Rumor - Benson Wants To Move Tourney
Why do we need two courts????? We don't need to have every program in the tournament. Cut it back. But hell, we've had multiple threads on expansion this last month. At this rate we'll need four freaking courts.
Two courts...
It's a convenient excuse to keep the damn thing forever in Hot Springs...
Cut it back to the top four or six teams (give the top seeds a bye), but please stop this nonsense of having even the worst damn teams of the conference participate. How many fans do they bring?
Cut it back. Move it and make it a reasonable distance for more schools' fans.

They want every team there so fans can make arrangements. Back when the opening round games were at home sites, and the 3 schools with the byes --- very few people would make arrangements to travel because they had no idea if they'd even advance to the "main" tournament (ie the quarters and beyond).

We don't "HAVE" to have two courts unless the presidents are committed to the idea of every team in, men and women in the same place, and no open dates in the tournament.
We don't "HAVE" to have a tournament. Don't "HAVE" to let everyone in or play any or all games away from campus.
Make me emperor for a few days and I'll eliminate the divisions and the tournament will be a six team event, all games on the court of the higher seed because I don't think our fan bases will embrace the idea of taking close to a week off work to stay at a neutral site in sufficient numbers to make it lucrative. Nashville may sell a lot of tickets but its not going to sell many more hotel rooms.

RE: Another Rumor - Benson Wants To Move Tourney
I like the idea of rotating the tourney in 3 different spots, for a 2-4 year basis.
If the tournament was in Hot Springs, TN, or Hot Springs, KY, I think most WKU and MT fans would be OK with it.
Hot Springs is NOT a bad location (as far as places to go, things to do). Those that have been there know that. I have heard Hot Springs praised on numerous occasions on how the tournament is ran.
The 7-hour drive is the problem (for some).
If you rotate the tourney, everyone (sans maybe FIU and FAU fans) has a chance to go.
However, would FIU or FAU have the most fans even if the SBC Tourney was in Orlando ?
