Indeed.
If LA Tech has to come to the 'Belt for whatever reason there will be LARGE amounts of crow to be eaten by thier administration and some of thier fans.
In fact I say that unless LA Tech goes undefeated in thier first Sun Belt season they will be open to pot shots simply because of what they have said/thought about 'Belt programs.
And if ULM beats them..........

I only know what I have ben told. Very small chance LA Tech will get the Pres votes needed to be approved.
Want to know why. Ask any athletic administrator who has had dealings with Tech. When I asked people from 3 or 4 schools the single most common comment was they ( The Tech Admin) are jerks.

What's ironic is that the tech fans come on here and defend it saying "the president makes the decisions" or "its our athletic department" and "the real voices that the SBC are mad at are on the message boards"...guess those arguments go out the window. Tech has written the book on how to make enemies.

I wouldn't be so sure:
http://www.theind.com/indextra/8722-wacs...belts-gain
The recent moves — and recent coaches’ chatter about the Sun Belt possibly moving from 10 to 12 football teams and playing a league title game — dredged up old rumors about Tech departing the WAC for the Belt. Tech athletic director Bruce Van De Velde pushed aside those rumors in a recent Shreveport Times story after the WAC’s UTA addition, while at the same time throwing dirt on Sun Belt academics.
“It’s not just about football,” Van De Velde told the Times. “It’s also about academics and how things fit the vision of the institution’s graduation rates. No one wants to compete in a league that takes short cuts academically and that faces a lot of APR problems. For the most part, we don’t have that in the WAC.”

OK. I guess that could come across as a jerk. It's something everyone believes, but you don't have to say it out loud. I would tell us to go to hell too (and then try to improve academics).

RE: The 2 new additions are
Poor Tech fans, they actually think Benson makes the decisions around here. In the Sun Belt all members are treated equal there's Boise or BYU that makes the decisions for everyone and threatens to leave if they aren't taken.
You guys need to man up and just say he should not have said what he said and apologize not defend him. The alliance has literally rewrite the rules of the NCAA to even happen and trust me they don't have that kind of influence.
If there is more than 20+ teams it's literally impossible to play everyone in your division and have OOC games. Your going to have years where 2 teams in the same division did not play each other and have the same record quite often. That kind of thing creates bitterness and eventually airport meetings.

"A conference works best when it is like-minded institutions. We know from past history La.Tech has never done anything that wasn’t in its best 20 minutes from now interest with little thought for the future. They’ve screwed up bowl deals to the detriment of their WAC brothers. A few years ago I asked former South Alabama athletic director Joe Gottfried about a Tech return. He told me that he had never worked with more difficult people and that they were determined to block any plan or program for conference improvement that required spending money or raising standards. A former ASU AD gave me the word of Tech’s departure before the news broke. I asked his opinion. “The only bad thing is they are happy. I’ve never worked with people so hard to deal with.”

Tech fans continue to ignore the truth, even when it is placed in their faces. C'mon guys, just admit your administration is the problem, not "everyone else."

You think Tech fans don't see problems with our administration? You haven't been reading BBB much I suppose. We could fill a notebook with dumb things our current AD has said. The guy before him was a snake-oil salesman and the snake-oil salesman's predecessor was in WAY over his head.
None of that changes the fact that, while the method of departure may have been less than professional (likely on both sides), Tech chose to join a better conference. That conference shifted after 3 years and Tech was on an island, but the conference had members crashing the BCS (something only one other non-AQ conference could say).
Now things have changed for the worse again. If Tech is not selected for the Alliance, we will join the Sunbelt. One way or the other, our conference destination will be known by June 30.

It wasn't you...not even close. Once the coattails were gone, more than y'all were left scrambling. The SBC isn't riding on anyone's fame, we're blazing a trail, cutting a path for ourselves. There's much more pride in that.
