Max you're being a moron
Calling a black man that word is like calling out anyones mother. Even people with a decent EQ have a limit to what they can take
Someone with a low EQ would think the term "Black Hole" or "Black Friday" is offensive, and yes they do exist and sometimes even hold *shudder* elected office...

When Torch referenced "laugh at themselves," I was thinking more along the lines of Don Rickles jokes, funny accents ("Ah-nold" Scwarzeneggar, anyone?), goofy stereotypes, etc. Not epithets with centuries of violent/oppressed meaning.

Yao Ming
Were it not for injuries Ming would have had a pretty respectable NBA career.
20 PPG, nearly 10 rebounds per game, a free throw rate of .882.. His numbers in the playoffs were pretty close to that and he spent the last five years of his career pretty banged up.
Lin in Taiwanese (haha semantics) and is a totally different player than Ming. Player's Ming's size hardly ever hold up during their careers. Sampson and Bol both saw that impressive height can lead to problems when injury occurs.
Anyway, Ming was the type of player who could put 40 down on a good day and only started to waiver when injuries nagged him.

I'll never have the chance to call a brown person that because I don't associate with them. They can't afford to live in my neighborhood or shop in the same stores. Thank goodness!

And why should you mind being called a Gringo? I mean, until the guy giving the job interview says he doesn't hire Gringos.

Yeah, but Yao was a foreign born/raised Chinese player that was taken with the #1 overall and had several years of professional experience under his belt. Lin is an American born, undrafted Harvard grad. BIG difference between expectations and stories.
