Tex Mex Stuffed Peppers
Bell Pepper halves stuffed with our homemade chorizo sausage, cream cheese, mushrooms and rice. Baked in our red sauce, finished with melted jack and cheddar cheese, black olives, and scallions.

I wasn't limiting it to San Diego and Texas. I was merely saying if you're from either, you should really just limit your favorites to two choices in your area. All Mexican food places located in present and future Big East cities and towns are welcome.

As a Mexican I have to say this is the most authentic Mexican food I've had in a restaurant in DFW. There are lots of places that are good, and but there's just too many to list.

Yep...very good. For some good interior Mexican near SMU's campus, try Javier's (where Harvard splits into McKinney & Cole)

The Chuy's location at McKinney and Knox is hands down the best Chuy's I've ever eaten at. And I've eaten at a lot of them. This location's food reminds me of the food I grew up with in south Texas.

Mi Cocina at Highland Park Village is also extremely good. Not a huge fan of their other locations, except for their West Village location, which is passable.

And I could go on, but I tried to limit myself to a 2-mile radius around Ford Stadium
I've only been to the Mi Cocina in Plano and Richardson (Coit and one near Plano Pkway I think...). I thought both of them were incredibly over priced for the simple food they provided. It wasn't bad food by any means, but I've had much better at about half the cost. I, however, have never tried the one in Highland Park.

Still overpriced, but food is tastier. Try the fajitas, you will thank me later.

To me, the measure of a great Tex-Mex joint is its fajitas. I absolutely love fajitas! Enchiladas and tamales is second and third, respectively, but great fajitas just make my day, man!

For Boise in close proximity to campus, it would be La Tapatia off of Parkcenter Blvd. Excellent Tex Mex food, especially the carne asada! A little further away is El Giro Gallo, very authentic.

It used to happen to me when it went for ribs at Finleys at 15th and Broadway in the Westend of Louisville.

yea that sucks. There is this one place I go quite often with my Colombian maintenance engineer. After the first time I went there, he got grilled as to my intentions. He told them, "To get fat off your food." Now they love me.

If you're in Tampa and you're looking for good Mexican food, please reconsider it. I've been to every city in the new Big East other than Boise, and I can say that there's nothing in Tampa that would be worth crossing the street to eat.

Surprisingly, there are a good number of Mexican places in NJ. Most are traditional Mexican instead of boarder joints. Mexicali Rose in Montclair is a really good one that has been around for about twenty years. Jose's Mexican Canteen in New Providence is another good one.

Louisville was Home to CHI CHI's before it folded, Tumbleweed before it was bought out and has Several National Chains like Chuy's
We also have several Cuban resturants like Havana Rumba.

Where is El Mundo on Frankfort? Down near the Story avenue end or up toward Shelbyville Road? Would love me some good fish tacos. One of the few things I miss about living in Orange County full time. I appreciate the info gonna check it out.

Chi-Chi's had a chance to be something special and blew it. Great concept but they got to "Americanized". Tumbleweed is still locally owned. I really enjoyed The El Nopal Goose Creek location at one time. Not sure if it is still any good. Los Indios in Floyds Knobs was an awesome restaurant until El Nopal bought them out. Not as good anymore.

Speaking of the OC. If you are ever in Huntington Beach check out Freds Cantina, over looking the pier at PCH and Main. Great food. I strongly recommend the fish tacos. Have a Cadillac Margarita (1800 Reposado topped w/Grand Marnier) while you wait. I don't usually do chain Mexican but when I do it's Freds. There is another location down in San Diego in Old Town
CJ

Frankfort Ave and Ewing.Closed Sun and Mon. Sol Aztecs is right across the street from El Mundo. Parking is tight especally on thursday - Sat night. Sat afternoons in the Summer are great as outside seating open. Enjoy. I live about a mile from goose creek El Nopol still good !

The best place to eat Tex Mex is to go to any roadside taco stand on Houston's East End.

You're not a Taco Bus fan? I am...though maybe I just like the idea of a 24 hour Mexican restaurant (more of a takeaway window though) fashioned out of a school bus.

In Memphis, Taqueria La Guadalupana on Summer. That's the safest "authentic" Mexican food in Memphis that still serves Tripa, Lengua, etc.

There are other, better places that I wouldn't recommend an out-of-towner to venture to w/o some serious arsenal on their person.
