That's baseball. Pitchers can get hot and have their stuff - or not. Hitters go into slumps or go on a streak. Always has been that way. The ball can look like a beachball coming out of the pitcher's hand or it can look like a BB.

Toledo did win the division - so I wouldn't say it was a disappointing season. Had a chance to win the the tourney - but so do a lot of other teams. Lose the first game and everything gets a lot tougher. Better have the bats going to have a chance in these tournaments. Good pitching only gets you so far in the world of aluminum bats with huge barrels

they had a good run at it but they couldn't hit worth a crap. that was a great idea to move the tournament to Avon and out of chillicothe. That stadium was amazing. I hope we make it there next year and win a few games

It took 21 innings but Kent won its opener in the NCAA tournament. Beat Kentucky 7-6. Golden Flashes play Purdue later today.

Oregon and Kent will play the deciding game tonight. I'd really like to see the Rockets in Omaha, but since that's not possible this year, the Golden Flashes will do. I think it'd be great for the MAC. Hope they can do it.

Kent State is headed for Omaha. Just defeated Oregon 3-2.

If I've got this right (it was mentioned on ESPNU early in the telecast) the last MAC team to be in the College World Series was Eastern Michigan in 1976.
