Navy going to Big East
Saw in today's sports section that Navy will be joining the Big East in 2015 for football only. They will be allowed to continue their Army /Navy game to end their season as well as their rivalry game against Notre Dame and Air Force.
I can see this move will impacting Navy playing us down the road.

Their series with Temple & Toledo from 2015 on look like they will get moved or dropped.

As in more likely or less likely?

With Navy maintaining their academy series with Army and Air Force and their ND series, that leaves them with all of 1, maybe 2 non conference games to schedule per season depending on Big East membership when it happens.

Besides scheduling for exposure/Naval recruiting efforts, they're going to need to schedule for wins with the 1 or 2 games they have flexibility on.

They would be nice to play any month other than November.

Its not worth a premium to me though.

I rather NIU never plays these unconventional offensive teams.

I agree, they usually are not good teams but require too much specialized game planning.

RE: Navy going to Big East
In Navy's case they've been pretty good for several years. Like Fisher DeBerry era Air Force competitive.

There are few things in football more enjoyable than well executed option offense. It really is a thing of beauty.

I do think it can throw your defense off track a little bit because it's become so unusual. As an early season opponent it's not so bad. For experienced defenses I don't think it would be an issue either.

I think they'll be less likely to continue playing us. Fine with me though.
