Troy head coach Larry Blakeney made a staff change, relieving Maurea "Mo" Crain of his duties defensive tackles coach this week, Blakeney said.

For some reason, I feel like the secretary at the hotel that makes sure there are enough muffins at the continental breakfast has more impact on the game than the "DT coach".

This move isn't enough to most fans...if this is LB's only move this year, he will no doubt be feeling the heat this upcoming season.

Make sure you post the press release about the new secretary in charge of breakfast foods. I'd like to pick her brain about the factors that go into the english muffin to bagel ratio.

I'm torn over this decision. No matter how the alums, friends, and family of coach JR feel about him coaching you cannot deny that our defense was terrible. We had arguably the worst defense in the worst conference, not a disclaimer on what the belt may be in the future but it is what it is.

Coaches at other schools get fired over making one big screw up in one game and every game last season was a big screw up for him. Troy had some of the best defensive players in the conference and played in embarrassing fashion.

Firing the DT coach just screams hey we are not willing to invest success after all the years of work done to get a school in a city where the school is more than half the population of the city. No one expects Troy to fire JR and turn around and hire Mark Stoops but the defense was not good the last few years and was 111th last season. No matter what no qualified coach with the credentials could do much worse than that with an All American defensive end and at the least three star caliber players.

Pretty pathetic move but not surprising. Troy is really good at making really bad decisions.
I mean, is firing the measly DT coach suppose to instill confidence? Should I expect an undefeated season now?

Change? That's not change. If you want real change than you need to have a new OC every year and a new DC every other year. See MT football.

I thought there was a thread reserved for this esoteric crap so I wouldn't have to ever read it....

(And let's face it, guys. It's all about ME, right?)

If that is the only change LB makes, maybe his boss needs to think about making a change.
