Basketball Rankings
Polls. Middle Tennessee is ranked #29 in the nation in the coaches poll while receiving 9 votes. The Mid-Major Top 25 hasn't been released yet, but the Blue Raiders were #11 last week. Also, the RealTimeRPI Power Rankings have Middle Tennessee at #43, ahead of Vanderbilt who's #48. Denver is ranked #57 in the RTR Power Rankings.

Agreed, especially since Louisiana plays at the Murphy Center this year.

RE: Basketball Rankings
I think they will get in the top 25 before the end of the year. I think they will walk through the sbc from watching them.
Now, in hot springs anything can happen. I do think middle has enough to get a good seed in the NCAA tournament to be able to win a game. That would be a big plus for the league.

I hear ya. If we win it will be because you get outcoached.
Good Luck the rest of the year. You should be top 25 right now.

RE: Basketball Rankings
Let's all slow down and take a few deep breaths.
A Kermit Davis coached team has never won more than 19 games and now people are talking about us waltzing through the Sun Belt, if that were to happen, even with a loss at Vandy, we'd be 27-3. At this point we could go 7-8 the rest of the way and Kermit would reach a new win plateau before even getting to Hot Springs. Obviously we should expect better than that at this point, but I'll still view every win over 20 to be gravy.
Having said all that, I realize this team is on the verge of a truly special season, but I do not expect us to go through the conference unscathed, if we can lose no more than 2 conference games, even with a loss at Vandy we will still have wildly exceeded expectations at 25-5. If we can exceed 25 wins, especially if it includes a win at Vandy...I don't even know what I would do.

Having gotten off to a 13-2 start last year... This is a very, very good perspective to maintain. And it'll be good for your mental health, too.
Middle is looking very formidable. But it's very rare for any team in any league to get through the conference slate cleanly.
I honestly hope Middle only loses 1 or 2 more games this year (I'd like to nominate a candidate for who to lose those 2 games to, if Kermit is willing to listen) and earns an at-large. But having gone through a very unpleasant reaction to disappointment last year, somewhat ironically after our loss to Middle Tennessee, I can tell you that getting too hopeful for that sort of run can be a brutal letdown if/when a stumble comes.
Good work so far, good luck the rest of the way. Enjoy the ride for as long as it lasts, and don't get as frustrated as I was if you guys hit a rough patch and the 'once in a lifetime' type year doesn't hold up. Hopefully, you guys will stay strong, lose in the finals, and make us a 2-bid league again for the first time in 4 years.

We have won most of these games without preseason all conference and last year leading scorer Jason Jones and starter Kerry Hammonds. I think they both may be back from injury for the Louisiana game.

I fear it may take some time for these guys to gel back into the program because they've been out so long. I've seen teams struggle quite often when a "star" comes back to the lineup after a substantial layoff.
I'm also interested in seeing what kind of impact football player Tavares Jefferson will have on hoops. Kermit says he was one of the top two point guards in our state out of high school.

Yeah, I heard that. He looked really good in pregame warm ups before the South Alabama game. He seemed taller on the football field.
