We shall see...

Just telling you what I think will happen -

I don't care if we are the last one chosen - as long as we are in a more regional conference and out of the WAC

MUSA isn't exactly a more regional conference, either. Teams from El Paso to Huntington. At least Tech is not as big an outlier there as they were in the [old] WAC.

RE: SBC, CUSA, Alliance...
18 is the number the Alliance has in mind because 18 allows for a full schedule of conference games without any crossover. The Alliance will be college athletics conference where the members establish as a matter of policy that they do not care if they ever see the other half of the conference on their football field or in their arena. Truly a novel development when you consider that the major conferences other than the used to be Big East and to a lesser degree the ever wobbling Big XII are made up of schools that wanted to play each other before there was any real money in this whole business of athletics.

At times they've talked of going as large as 24 where you wouldn't even play everyone in your own division. The whole theory is "too big to fail", build a league so large that it can withstand raid after raid via the inertia of size.
