if you stAte folks would like to hear the Auburn side of the story, you can listen live online at http://sportsradio740.com/ tomorow from 6-10am. John and Barry on Sportsline. FYI...Barry is Troy radio guy Barry McKnight.

Auburn fans are confused. They can't understand why he would take a pay cut to go to ASU. What they don't realize is he is from Arkansas and he wanted to come come.

OMG, yall should call in all morning tomorow and give the stAte perspective! sometimes people call in from out of state, so it'd be hilarious if yall did and took over the show. I'd LOVE to hear a bunch of angry Aubs complain about not only losing their OC but having to hear a bunch of "stupid Sun Belt fans" brag about stealing him. 02-13-banana

Wow, the wife is certainly a pistol. Guess he keeps on working 24/7 to make sure she doesn't get after him.
Got to be easier co-ordinating a whole team than her.

Great hire stAte ! Cannot believe he was offerred $3,000,000 last year as a head coach and is taking $850,000 to go back to Arkansas.
Who was that with? That's the kind of coach you want. Someone that will give up money just to be there.

that's what has made Troy a power, Larry is loyal. he's had other offers but opted to stay in Troy for what we can pay to keep his family comfortable and his legend in tact.

perhaps Malzahn will be for stAte what Blakeney has been for Troy.

I don't think it was as much stAte, as it was Vanderbilt and the pressure of the SEC.

Believe the offer last year was from Vandy, not sure about the three million, but know they offered.

That's a hell of a hire, I'm afraid Arkansas State might be about to start the third Sun Belt dynasty.

Congrats! Glad people are actually looking at the SBC now. I am interested to see how CGM offenses work with less talent on both sides of the ball.

It's the same offense that Coach Freeze ran at ASU. Gus does it a little different.

Exactly right. This is bringing national publicity to the SBC as well as stAte.

We had a Troy fan call in from Montgomery to our show today...said he was friends with McKnight. Now I know more about why he called. Gave our program great props. I would return the favor, but they tend to frown on school teachers calling radio shows in the classroom.

Great name and buzz around GM for the whole league...strong hire!

His record at Auburn without Cam Newton is 15-9. He does have the advantage of having a great team and Aplin returning at ASU. Plus, his offensive scheme fits the talent left.

Seems like Roberts didn't leave the cupboard bare for Freeze and Gus.

Arkansas was 10-1 when Nutt benched his QB and basically took over the offense.

First year at Tulsa #1 offense in the nation. Second year team was the second highest scoring FBS team all-time. First year at Auburn broke school offense record without Cam. Other than this year and Chizik demand to run more has done well in the other four non-Cam years as an OC.
