RE: Dunbar or Rainey?
This is Taggarts 2nd All-American running back. And it sure as
hell won't be his last.

Great honor for Rainey and do not take this as a slight because we've had guys in the past make lists like these in the past and were definitely excited about it, but unfortunately no one on the national level pays much attention to any of the all american teams aside from the AP. Hell the AP All American list isn't what it used to be.
Unreal. Leave it to a MUTS fan.
Am I wrong?

Again, congrats to Rainey, but Gerhart was an AP first teamer, Heisman runner up, won the Doak Walker, the Archie Griffin, and the Jim Brown and was a 2nd round draft pick.
The two do not belong in the same sentence.

I think cajunhawk's endorsement settles it.
Dunbar it is.

Both...first team all conference.
Rainey was Offensive Player of the Year
Morris got shafted, he had 71 more yards than Dunbar and with 33 fewer carries than Dunbar too, and with a crappy O-line. Plus he gained most of his yards AFTER contact! Now that's a RB!!!!
Go Owls!!!
really? I hadn't heard anything about the FAU back. That's cool though, any plans to go pro?
Against the top ranked defense in the conference, and I saw all three games, here are their stats from those games, and how I would rank the three RBS
1. Morris ran 19 times for 163 and two TDs, with 2 receptions for 8 yards.
2. Rainey ran 28 times for 86 yards and no TDs, with 3 receptions for 68 yards.
3. Dunbar ran 21 times for 90 yards with 1 TD, with 2 receptions for 11 yards.
Against Arkansas State, FAU's Morris was the best RB we faced, and our players and coaching staff will tell you the same.

On the year, Rainey also had 134 more rushing attempts, and a lower ypc than Morris.
I'm not knocking Rainey, or Dunbar. They are both extremely talented RBs. I'm proud of Rainey's AA award. That's great for WKU and the Sun Belt.
However, as I said, based on games against the top defense in the league, Morris was clearly the better RB this season. That's my belief, and the belief of ASU's defensive players and coaches I spoke with, as well.

Of course the original discussion was about career numbers, but as far as this season goes, yeah Morris had more rushing yards than Dunbar, but he didn't have as many touchdowns Dunbar or Rainey and both Dunbar and Rainey had substantially better receiving stats.
Dunbar had only +1 TDs this season.
for his career
soph - 1,392yds - 11TDs (SBC Rushing Leader, experienced O line)
jr - 928yds - 7TDs (very green O-line)
sr - 1,186 - 9TDs (still bad O-line)
Total - 3,506yds - 27TDs
And that is very considerable considering how bad our offense was.
Just saying, he deserves to be there with the other 2, all 3 are great backs.
GO OWLS!

Be interesting to see what NFL folks think. We should find out pretty soon.

Like the MT poster said, I really doubt either back will have a long career in the NFL if they ever make it past the practice squad level.

.
Playing for a BCS program improves your chances for these type honors exponentially. If Dunbar or Rainey played for a top tiered BCS team they would been mentioned for Heisman consideration. Its true they don't belong in the same sentence and that is the only reason.
