SBC finish 3-0?
It's fairly likely that both of our conferences finish above .500 for the bowl season. I like both conferences matchups.
SDSU is a very winnable game, and so is Marshall. NIU vs. stAte should be a hell of a game. Can't wait to watch it.

The MAC drew 2 MWC teams, a WAC, a Big10 and an SBC. So I like our chances as well. Good luck, may the holidays be filled with non-AQ wins.

Going to be interesting to see how stAte performs without their coach.

I hope all non-AQ teams win and win BIG, if they are playing AQ schools.

thankfully we've got over a month to get ready. The interesting thing is a possibility of having an interim coach for the bowl with the current staff, while we already have a new coach for the new year hired that is already making rounds.

That hasnt happene at ASU before, and im curious to see how our players and fans react to it.

Coincidentally, because of the buyout, it may work out that we didn't have to pay Freeze a dime for his year as head coach.

I agree

-10% of our fans are angry
-80% are disappointed
-and then there is the 10% (myself included) that may be disappointed, but like the possibility of getting someone else who wants to work hard and use ASU a jumping off platform

They will probably play very well. While Freeze was that catalyst, the reason ASU won the SBC was they have a strong staff and good players. That should put them in good stead in the bowl game.

College Football News has the GoDaddy.Com bowl ranked as the #10 bowl on their to watch list. They favor NIU.

Arkansas State will be just fine. They have more playmakers and a tighter defense than NIU. The Sun Belt could realistically go 3-0 in route to the Bowl Challenge Cup.

NIU lost to Kansas (2-10, last in the Big XII). I wouldn't worry what CFN had to say. They make assumptions that the Sun Belt can't be competitive because its the youngest FBS conference.

I would have liked to have seen Freeze coach the bowl game. But he will have some recruiting and staff hiring to do....hopefully he doesn't have that comfort level with his current staff and takes a bunch who can't help out for the bowl.

Good thing is there is a month to prep. Good luck ASU.

No matter how you slice it that they just said the GoDaddy.Com bowl was goin to be the 10th best bowl game to watch is a good thing.

ASU 28th Total Offense 15th Total Defense
NIU 13th Total Offense 90th Total Defense

The MAC and Sunbelt are at best equal which makes this an easy pick.

90th in total defense against not very many good teams. The only good team NIU played (Wisconsin) completely destroyed them. NIU also managed to lose to 3-9 Central Michigan and edge out Ball State (6-6), Buffalo (3-9), and Eastern Michigan (6-6) by a combined 10 points.
