This bowl forecast is still showing WKU has a chance:

W. Kentucky* vs. Southern Miss*

I hope it works out for WKU . . it would be a good match up !!

Go WKU . . Go SBC !! 02-13-banana

Not so sure if WKU can hang with the Southern Miss team that romped Houston yesterday.

RE: WKU to Compass Bowl ??
There are probably more showing us in than out now. Many of the ones that have us in are putting us in the BBVA Bowl, which would be my top pick for sure.

I think we will make a bowl, it might not be BBVA, but I think we make one just because our turnaround story combined with Bobby Rainey makes for better TV than some of the middling MAC teams that would get the bid otherwise.

If WKU makes it in, that would be awesome. This would be the biggest post-season in SBC history, 4 bowls, all regional with good chances for us to have good showings in attendance and on field performance.

I think WKU can hang with S. Miss. They may not beat them, but they can hang.

I think WKU will be the last team out....sucks, but at least SBC will have 3 Bowls again and with the bottom half of the conference rising, it will give the SBC more bargaining power for tie-ins, etc.

We were guaranteed a bowl game last season, but it wasn't until late sunday that everything was nailed down. So there is still a possibility for the hilltoppers to go bowling especially with rumors of Pitt not wanting to go back to Birmingham. If that is true, the BBVA may end up being a CUSA vs SBC or MAC.

I'm hoping all 4 teams earn post season games. 04-cheers

I have to think that if Birmingham has an opening that it goes to WKU before the MAC. They are much closer and hungry for a bow.

I agree . . WKU has a good story for TV commentators, a good team that started slow and grew stronger as the season progressed, and a top college football player on the field . . . . . . I think WKU gets a bowl game.

Go WKU . . Go SBC !! 02-13-banana

RE: WKU to Compass Bowl ??
I have no personal vendetta against the MAC, but I hope that WMU and Ball State get left out, and I think with WMU/Ball/and WKU being the teams available, WKU should have a chance because I don't see anything that makes them any less attractive than those 2 MAC schools. I'll say it straight away, Ball State is staying home, its basically between WKU and WMU for who gets the last bowl spot.

RE: WKU to Compass Bowl ??
Just for the hell of it, lets look at the Resumes, positives and negatives, and I'll include Ball State

Ball State
Positives - Went 2-2 OOC, had wins over Indiana and Army
Negatives - went 1-3 down the stretch, outscored by 112 points, No major market, and only averaged 10,032 fans per game.

Western Michigan

Positives - Went 7-5 overall, beat UConn on the road, averaged 19,985 in attendance this year, outscored opponents by 89 points
Negatives - No regional bowl available for them, Finished 3rd in the MAC West, again no major market appeal.

Western Kentucky
Positives - Finishes season 7-1 with the only loss being to LSU on the road. Finished second in the conference, and will be the most regional of the 3 teams available for bowls. They have a star to bill the game around in Rainey.
Negatives - OOC was brutal going 0-4, including the loss that I won't get into.
In Between - Averaged 16,637 per game, not near as bad as Ball, but Not as good as WMU. If there is a regional game, its likely the slight difference won't matter and WKU will be invited before WMU.

It's gonna be interesting in the next couple of hours how things shake out.

WKU to Compass Bowl ??
If WKU is left out, our OOC will be the reason. We did that to ourselves.

I never in a million years thought WKU would win more than 3 games this season.

I never in a million years thought they would win more than one game this year after Indiana State. But WKU has came on really strong here in the second half of the season. That SOB Doyle(Just kidding seems like a great kid) is only a junior! That guy is just an absolute beast, hands down the best TE I have seen since that TE from Tulsa in 2005 routed us for 200+ yards. Congrats WKU, Regardless of whether or not you make a bowl, you have made huge strides this season.

I really wish it wasn't Southern Miss who is your potential bowl opponent. Not sure WKU stands a chance in that one, but I def. owe WKU fans an apology for having no faith in them before the season started(had about as much faith in them as I did in my team) the important thing is WKU is young, as we are, and will be a very good team for the next couple of years.

Ohh I see WKU definitely being a challenger for the conference title next year. Just wish our basketball program would improve as much as our football program has. The problem is when you have to much success your coach is gone... Im sorry ASU fans my condolences. Our OCC next year with Alabama, Kentucky, and Southern Miss is going to be great and help us alot. Just wish all three of those games weren't back to back to back :(

No WKU fans thought we'd be sitting here with a chance for a bowl after the ISU game and the mental hurdles after all of the losing. The turnaround is the cake and a bowl would be the icing.

One thing that did happen in the ISU game that could've been a turning point. We started a new redshirt freshman QB in that game and he tore his ACL on his third play of the game and out for the season. Once that happened, Jakes was then our QB.

Since then, he really has managed the games with minimal turnovers. I think he has had something like 4 INTs in the last 8 games. This allows our running game and west coast offense to control the clock and keep all of the spread offenses we face off the field.

Hopefully, WKU gets in a bowl and sets the record for 4 Bowls for the SBC!! Fingers crossed....

According to the Kalamazoo Gazette, WMU will be going to the Little Caesar's Pizza Bowl in Detroit. Official announcement will be made by WMU at 6:30.

Interesting. WMU will get in, NIU will be in Mobile, That leaves Temple, Ohio, and Toledo as the other teams available. Ohio as the other team in the championship game, I think they are guarenteed somewhere, so I'd assume their locked into the Humanitarian Bowl. That leaves Temple and Ohio in the atlarge pool. both those teams had great seasons, that will make WKU getting in that much more difficult.
