Freeze to be offered Ole Miss job tomorrow
Fedora and Smart have apparently both turned Ole Miss down. Fedora wants to go to either Kansas or North Carolina.

Ole Miss will officially (Read for the 2nd or 3rd time) interview Freeze tomorrow, at which time they will offer him the head coaching position. What we know is that Freeze despite whatever we hear is likley to accept the OM job, but wants to see what Southern Miss wants to do first.

ASU still has a chance...but a very small one. a Ryan Aplin hail mary maybe. The truth is that Ole Miss fans cant stand the idea of hiring Freeze, their boards are going crazy. Freeze at the same time wants to win, and while Ole Miss offers the SEC, we are clearly talking about the 7th best team in the SEC West, and a very liklihood of no bowl game next year (or this year.)

If Ole Miss leaves, supposedly ASU is already lining up a prime candidate to replace him, and that may be defensive coordinator Dave Wommack, who has never been a head coach, but has been a coordinator for a long time, and would probably cause the least heartache among ASU fans

Sigh

The players love Wommack. He will need to hire an good OC. If he is the next HC I will be fine with it.

RE: Freeze to be offered Ole Miss job tomorrow
The ASU AD was shown in Little Rock TV and his only comments were that ASU had made Freeze a very attractive offer, Freeze was happy with it and loved ASU & Jonesboro.

For the first time today in the various write-ups about the game in the Jonesboro Sun they just focused on the game and the players and did not mention the prospect of Freeze leaving.

I really hope ASU can find a way to keep Freeze. The guys a great coach, and if the Sun Belt is ever going to move ahead of other conferences, and become stronger, our programs must retain the quality coaches like Freeze. I hope you guys can show him the money and really sell your community to his family. Good luck.

Ole Miss is a horrible job. You can't compete in SEC at Ole Miss. That job is about increasing your bank account for a few years before you get fired and nothing more. You just can't win there.

I hope he stays at stAte too, but really it would be hard for anyone to turn down.

Imagine in your chosen profession you get a job offer to Double or Triple your salary and work at a place that competes with the best of the best in the industry. The new job is behind the curve in terms of competeing but your new boss tells you that you are the guy to take them to the top.

Any of us would take that. It would be EXTREMELY hard to turn down.

I'm rooting for several coaches to get offers and leave. Upward mobility, may make Sun Belt jobs more attractive for the best potential candidates...and make all our programs better.

ASU has called a team meeting for tomorrow morning, I expect a press conference shortly afterward.

It is my hope Coach Freeze takes the moral high road and stays with his Red Wolves players through their bowl game.. if he takes the moral high ground and does not abandon the football players after all they have done for him this year on the football field then he will always have my respect and admiration as a man of good character.. if he does not.. his moral compass is lacking and he will be forever labeled as a man who chose the dollar over the right thing to do for his football players.

MW, he may not be able to control that. Ole Miss may/probably will stipulate that he start immediately.

Good Luck!

He could surely say that he would start after the stAte bowl game. It's not like Ole Miss needs a coach right now, their season is over.

But they are behind on recruiting. I doubt Nutt or anyone on staff has spent an ounce of energy recruiting since it was announced Nutt is gone. It will be very very hard to recruit players to ole miss this year, and i have a feeling Freeze might poach some of our commits.

I think he can look at Stockstill at MT and think the best policy is striking while the iron is hot, jumping for a big payday at a higher profile school. Just because you're hot right now doesn't mean a thing two years out if your star QB breaks a leg and you go 3-9, 2-10, etc. and the fans are calling for your head...

Well, hopefully he remembers how things worked out for Mike Haywood after he burnt his bridges when he left his team high and dry before their bowl game.

Um....what? If Mike Haywood hadn't been arrested on felony domestic assault charges, he'd still be the coach at Pitt.

This. It's a MONTH, until stAte's bowl game. I'm sure that Ole Miss has no problem waiting that long for their new coach to hit the recruiting trail...01-wingedeagle
