Really? Over Brandon Joiner? Who is #5 in the nation in sacks?

Though, to WKU's credit, you all double-teamed him better than any team this year.

Don't forget about Kelcie McCray and Darryl Feemster who BOTH lead the conference in interceptions.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Aplin and Joiner as Offensive and Defensive Sun Belt Players of the Year. Rainey may get the nod over Aplin, but with ASU winning the conference, I don't think so.

did i say it was consensus? i said some people say. i've read it in articles and heard the telly guys say it. joiner is a senior so he prolly gets it.

it wouldn't shock me if jackson and rainey got both. i'd be surprised because western didn't win the league but it's not far fetched.

RE: nice hit
Honest question for ASU fans: What is ASU's record with Steve Roberts as coach? Freeze was left with a great QB who had done well against AQ opponents in previous years.

Same with ULL.....with Hudspeth?

WKU has gone through this with some hoops coaches throughout the years where a new coach wins with the previous coaches players (perfect example....Coach McDonald with WKU hoops).

It seems like both of these coaches changed the environment and renewed excitement. I would say Coach Roberts would still have won at least 6 or 7 games with Aplin as QB.

Well Aplin really only developed under Freeze last year when he was OC. I'm not sure the scheme we were using with Leonard would have translated as well for Aplin. With that being said, there were NUMEROUS times where Leonard would overthrow a receiver or our receivers dropped easy throws from Leonard.

The last two years have really shown what it means to have a consistent QB and a reliable set of WRs. Couple that with Freeze's innovative scheme and that puts you over the offensive marks set before Freeze came to town.

What gets overlooked with a guy like Freeze is Coach Dave Wommack. Our defense is SOLID and that is credited to having someone with Wommack's resume on staff. He has installed an aggressive pass-rush, discipline against the run, and has eliminated the big plays that have haunted ASU for years. If Freeze goes after this season, he owes it to Wommack to put him in the passenger seat.

Roberts was 45-63 in nine seasons. Averaged five wins a season. Could have hit that seven-win mark had he brought in better defensive and offensive coordinators and/or taken over the defense himself and brought in a special teams coach. Hell of a recruiter when it came to diamonds in the rough. It's a shame some of our fans are so hard on him.

Roberts woulda kept his 1AA defensive staff he brought with him and played not to lose, and we wouldn't have been undefeated in road conference games under Stevo.

Roberts was well under .500.

2002 6-7
2003 5-7
2004 3-8
2005 6-6
2006 6-6
2007 5-7
2008 6-6
2009 4-8
2010 4-8

Total 45-63

I don't think its the same with us. Hudspeth saw something in the backup QB that Bustle didn't and chose to start him over a 2 year starter.

wonder when he'll up the ante to assault???

A nice comeback, however, only one of the two is still employed.

I was just taking a little jab at Beed. Figured he'd like the firewater comment.

I will not comment on Arnika Brown or the hoops players that accepted money 04-cheers

Thing is, though, as soon as I make fun of another team, one of our guys (choir boys) gets in trouble. Never fails.

all of us have it happen. it's what human beings do. i'd say most of the schools in the sun belt would have handled the guidry situation the same as we did.

everyone can pile on me and say no...their school is made up of fine christians and would have fired him on the spot. would have made the story of the day about the coach instead of the kids getting their one shot at #1.

but i believe most if not all of the schools in our conference would have handled it the same way. the punishment western levied against him was much more stern than what would have been handed out against a university professor accused of the same crime.

ya'll can choose to believe you wouldn't have and feel smug about it. i'm more of a realist i guess.

and this isn't directed at you amigo. it's directed at all of the righteous out there in foolsball land.

we're just fans and all we can do is look at the fallout and see if it passes the smell test.

but everyone loves a 'black/white' set of rules and responses and the world doesn't and never has operated on that.
