Kentucky upsets Tennessee Birmingham Bowl open
Kentucky beat Tennessee for the first time in 26 years today with a Wide Reciever playing QB. Tennessee will not be bowl eligible, meaning the most the SEC can get is 9 bowl eligible teams, and with 2 BCS, Birmingham is open.

If Wake Forrest beats Vanderbilt the Liberty Bowl or Music City Bowl will come open as well.

Believe me, every WKU fan is watching those games with special interest.....Although it was hard to root for UK to beat TN...then again, I think we were rooting for TN to lose, not UK to win. 04-cheers

I would be our crappy luck that Music City or Liberty would come open on a year like this...

We'd probably take nearly 30,000 fans to a Music City bowl and probably at around 20,000 to a Liberty bowl.

Kentucky just did ya'll a big favor. I read where the MAC had secondary tie-ins w/ the Compass bowl and New Mexico bowl. Don't know the strings attached w/ that, so they could take a MAC team over ya'll. However, if Vandy or Miss St loses, that should almost guarantee ya'll an invite. The Liberty is wanting a Southern Miss/Miss St matchup since Houston is looking like they'll head to a BCS game. Music city is hoping to get Vandy. If Vandy loses, I'd expect WKU to get an invite. If Miss St loses, I'd expect the Liberty to take the Big East team from the Compass bowl, and then that would probably be a WKU/MAC team matchup.

I wouldn't exactly call it an upset. Neither one of these teams are very good right now. Looks like Tennessee's luck finally ran out. We may end up owing the cats one. 03-melodramatic

Also CUSA will have 2 open bowl spots with only 5 eligible teams and Houston likely going to a BCS bowl.

Vandy up 41-7 on Wake so you can forget the Music City coming open. If MSU beats Ole Miss, thne the Liberty is full...if not, Liberty picks up the Big East from Birmingham and there are 2 openings thers

We need as many teams needing 1 win to become eligible to lose. FIU ends up the season with a record of 8-4 in the regular season.
