Howard Schnellenberger is wasting no time starting his new job, as he started clearing out his office this morning so the new coach can move right in.
For now what we know is this: Carl Pelini’s five-year, $500,000 per year contract will be approved by the Board of Trustees Monday during a 10 a.m. meeting. At noon Pelini will meet with VIPs in a private meeting to give them first contact with the second coach in FAU history, and then at 2 p.m. the brother of Bo will try and win his first press conference as a head college coach.
SOME POSITIVES
Reviews are mixed on Pelini, but there are some strong postives.
He is a good recruiter. He was given parts of California and found some good players in a short amount of time. He also was very good and finding JUCO talent. The Voice had what amounted to a ban on JUCO recruiting, only taking kids who came to him, and then it was rare.
Given the current state of the Owls, finding a couple JUCO players might be a good thing right about now.
Pelini also has a reputation for being a good communicator, with the recruits, players and community. He’s smart and has a high energy level. He gets credit for helping develop Ndamukong Suh into the dominate player he became
