Alright. I'm here to eat my crow. Congratulation WKU. I didn't think you could beat FIU, but I was wrong. I have to agree you guys are at least 2nd in the Belt. If ASU finishes laying an egg against FAU, I'll call you number 1.

I'm very disappointed in FIU right now. That was not the team that thumped UNT at the start of the season.

I have to go visit my prediction of the week thread now.

We really beat ourselves today with all of the penalties. Every week it seems like this problem continues to get worse instead of better.[/i]

WKU is a bad spot away (against ASU) from being bowl-eligible and 6-0 in conference. Wow.

OH...and although I wasn't there, those who were say the both upper decks were packed. I haven't seen the official attendence numbers yet but I'm guessing 20,000 plus...likely much more.

No they weren't. In guessing 18K in attendance at the most. But our defense stepped up and and played a heck of a game. Penalties killed our redone drives today too. Good game panthers.

RE: WKU v FIU game
great game if you appreciate good dee...and poor kicking by western.

I was really worried about fiu's dee and they didn't disappoint.

i watched fiu vs. louieville and was very impressed with the speed and physicality of their dee and especially the front 4.

it worried me for jakes. he has played 'well' during the wins but i thought if fiu 'stuck him' he'd get rattled. they did and he did.

our dee played very well keeping us in it.

we had missed 2 fgs already when bobby rainey put us on his back and got us in fg range. casey tinius who lost his job.....rightfully so....trots out and nails the game winner.

go toppers.

Jakes was bad the second half but you have to credit the FIU defense. They were, I believe, the most physical we have seen in the league this season. Our D was excellent also. We came up with zero points at least 3 times in the first half after being in FIU territory. It was not a pretty game but we were fortunate to have a chance to win and did pull this one out.

Congrats to the Toppers on that hard fought victory. Not a pretty game, but it is always pretty to get a victory.
