RE: Adam Pankey to Pitt
Thinking this may be a great pickup.

Another note: So much for the message board goofs on Panther Digest that said that due to the spread we'll go to smaller OL.

There is a lot of ignorance when it comes to O and D systems and the recruits needed to run these systems. Just because Tulsa had undersized OL and DL players with speed, it doesn't mean that TG is going to go after the exact same players for Pitt. The bottom line is big players with speed + agility are better than smaller players with speed + agility. The only reason Tulsa didn't get the bigger kids with speed is simple: they had offers from bigger name schools and went there. LOL!

Completely agree. That is why the SEC is so good. They're not only big up front, but they're fast. I'm not sure how quick footed Pankey is per say, but I'm not sure Graham would've considered him if he wasn't. Another note of ignorance is that they assumed that because Rich Roch recruited smaller OLman that we would as well.

RichRod had a natural recruiting disadvantage at WVU. That will never change regardless of which conference they are in. Pitt has a natural recruiting advantage over WVU and most of the current BE schools. Part of it is that the WPA recruits favor Pitt over WVU, but I think Pitt as a school is much easier to sell than WVU as a school plus Pittsburgh as a location is easier to sell than Morgantown as a location.

That is why RichRod went for the under the radar speed demons with character, size and academic "flaws".
