$37.8 Million according to US Dept. Of Education, 2003-2004. Highest in the new big east is Louisville with $35.1 Million (expenses)......rutgers and pitt was at $31.1 Million, Syracuse at $34.4 Million, Univ. of Cinci was at $22 Million, and USF at $18.5 million.

Looks like cinci and south florida needs to catch up.....

Ohhh i am Sorry....UCONN is the largest at $43.02 Million. Man UCONN has some loot....looks like we are all behind UCONN. UCONN's budget is worthy of Big Ten status...

UL's new budget is supposed to be for $38 million. Give us a chance to pay off C-USA, the admittance fee to the Big East, expand our staduim, develop some revenue from our women's hoops program, and build a new basketbalkl arena and we will be pushing for top place in the budget department.

Cincy has a huge endowment and is supposed to be borrrowing against it to increase their budget up to the #35 million dollar range.

USF is still crawling and thinking about walking. Give them a little time to build their program and they will excalate quickly.

I think UC, through the help of its 1 billion dollar endowment, will push its athletic budget to 37 million. This number represents the average athletic budget for a BCS school.

Although UCONN spends the most for sports, it is profitable because it generates huge revenue from three sports in WBB, MBB and FB. I hope rest of the BE catches up. The bottom line is rest of the conference has to step up spending in order to match some of the BCS big boys.

Exactly. I hope the rest of the BE can catch UCONN . You guys are soooooo great. You represent everything the BE hopes to become. We are so lucky to have you guys........thx. Losing Miami and VT was no big deal compared to having your great BB program join our league.

Not exactly the point I was trying to make, but I am merely stating a fact. I think UCONN is doing the right away grow the school and all of its sports programs. I am not saying UCONN is the best by any stretch, but I am just talking about it within the BE. All the schools should have state support and money to grow all the sports programs. After UCONN won NCAA in Bball, freshmen applications went way up (in fact, it was up 28% last year).

Anyway, take it anyway you want it but a fact is a fact.

Come on Orlaco,

Why shouldn't UCONN's alums and students communicate pride in their university? I don't see an attitude here.

USF was at $20-million this past academic year. However, the final figure are not truly reflective about total spending. Several of USF's Olympic programs are under the umbrella of the Sun Dome, which was not included inthe $20-million figure. USF is around $23-$24 million right now.

USF is really concentraing most of it's efforts in upgrading their olympic sports facilties along with major improvement for the sundome and basketball practice facilities.

Thanks so much jtwvu87, this is just the site I've been looking for. Someone made the statement that UConn's budget was worthy of the Big 10. I sampled some Big 10 schools and they would actually fall in the bottom tier of the schools I looked up. Those budgets ranged from 103.8 million at Ohio st. (which had football revenue allone of 46.2 million) to Indiana U which had a budget of 36.3 million. The other schools were Mich St 49.8, Iowa 53.4, Illinois 43.9, and Mich 68.9...all are 2003-04 budgets. We, as a conference, don't compare too badly overall. I was also interested in the big three down in Florida. Miami which only has about 15, 000 students has a budget of 47.4, Fla St's budget is only 36.0 and University of Florida is 72.7 million. Is there a correlation? Sometimes it seems not, sometimes so. One thing is for sure, as a conference (not just Cincy and S.F.) we have some catching up to do.
