The main group of fans who resided at the Rivals website have migrated over to Scout.

So is this some sort of secret that you can't let out in the open on here? I'm curious now too :)

It's official, just in case anyone cares.
Syracuse and UConn have said goodbye to Rivals and hello to Scout.

Hopefully georgia tech swagger won't mind me posting this.

My personal opinion is that Rivals has always been biased towards the huge schools.....kid is a 4 star player when he is considering Penn St but if he picks Pitt or WVU he suddendly becomes 3 star....scout is a lot more accurate

I find searching Scout's recruiting database much more cumbersome. Plus, I really don't care for the way their message boards are laid out.
You gotta do what you gotta do, but since this is all relatively quiet, one could argue that the people who run Boneyard and Syracusefans were offered some $$$ to move to Scout...
I don't have a horse in this race so I'm an outsider, but I've seen the same sort of thing where Smith Barney might offer enough money to a broker at Merrill Lynch that they move and then try to persuade their clients why it's a good move. I'm not saying that's what happened here, but in the absence of somebody actually saying anything (other than "Mike Farrell is biased!") it looks like a viable reason.

I believe both Rivals and Scout are bad about bias towards the "big name" schools. If Ohio State and UC are both in the hunt for a player, and he chooses OSU his stock rises, yet if he chooses UC it lowers. It is total BS, the stars for a player should stay the same from day 1 (for the most part, at least).

Boneyard (UConn) and Syracusefan are run by the same people. They also own those domain names. They were simply parked on Rivals. Starting in November, the domain names will also move over to Scout.
Here are a few comments from Huskynan (an admin) about the move:
Quote:The Scout network is far superior in both football and men's hoops and they have an interest in furthering the amount of info available for women's hoops. Some of the best (and most objective, if you know what I mean) analysts are here on Scout.
You'll see Bob Lichtenfels name here from time to time. He's an East Coast recruiting analyst who can give us more information on the recruiting that interests US, not Oklahoma or USC or Miami fans. When's the last time Rivals had a football recruiting analyst stop by to chat with us?
The men's hoops board will have access to info from Mike Sullivan and Dave Telep, names you might recognize if you're into recruiting. The women's board will have the expertise of Clay Kallam from Full Court Press and they are ramping up coverage of girls high school and women's college hoops.
All around, it's just a good move.

While I don't have any inside poop about the switch and $$$ changing hands it really boiled down to a lack of confidence (certain actions and attitudes) of a specific so called "recruiting expert" in the rivals network who most felt was a cheerleader/head recruiter for BC.
