Who is FAU's 2nd head coach?
Who's it gonna be? I'm skeptical of them being able to land Leach or Shannon and I honestly have no idea about Leavitt. Butch Davis may get slapped with show cause and I don't think they could(or should for that matter) get him anyway.

Answer the poll as to who you think it will be, not who you'd hire if it was up to you. I'm interested to see the answers of FAU fans compared to the answers of the rest of the conference.

If you answer other, feel free to post who you think it will be, should be, could be, or what "type" of guy they should go after.

I'm not sure Leach has come to the realization that he isn't a hot property yet.

I really like Leavitt but I've had a soft spot for him ever since we tried to hire him after firing Hollis. Was looking pretty good but the president at USF finally caved and agreed to go forward with the facility improvements he had been promised but had never bothered doing.

Leach would be my first choice, but there will be a number of good candidates. I'd also like the Owls to look at Terry Bowden and Mike Shula. Both have obvious ties to Florida and have run major programs. Not crazy about Leavitt.

So in your gut, do you think you guys will land Leach?

I hope its Leach and I think we have an outside shot at getting him. Some personal ties to our AD and he LOVES S. Florida. Its simply a matter of if he's willing to take less money then he could get other places. Word has it that the salary range for the FAU HC postion will be somewhere between 500K and 600K. Assitants are supposed to get a bump as well.

That being said, I voted for "Other" since I think FAU will go for a AQ level OC or DC and give them a shot. Terry Bowden is currently at North Alabama and might get the nod to get his shot at the FBS level again.

Hoping for Leach, but wont be surprised if we dont get him.

I think as long as UCLA or Arizona don't come calling, I honestly think we have a shot, a lot going for us, I know a lot question the pay, but for him to get back to coaching, which he said he is, new stadium, recruiting hot bed, near the water and close to the keys, and or AD has a past relationship with him, I think we have a shot, even with lower pay.

GO OWLS!

Leach is only looking for BCS and BCS money.

He doesn't seem to be the type of guy who'd be willing to take a pay cut for anybody.

But if you land him, that'd be great for the conference.

Some people mentioned Bowden in conjunction with the ASU job last year.

I wouldn't touch Terry for anything.

He won at Samford on a steady diet of I-A transfers, many from Florida State (wonder how that happened?).

His greatest success was at Auburn with a group of players who couldn't go to a bowl because they had been illegally recruited by the man he replaced. He has since been quoted by the AP as saying that Auburn had a pay-for-play scheme when arrived and he did nothing to stop it in his time there. Bowden later said that his comments were off-the-record but he did not deny that they were true.

When Auburn started negotiating with him about a buy-out, they wanted him to announce he was resigning at the end of the season. Bowden got mad, took his money and left with five games left. He didn't just leave mid-season, he left on Friday night prior to a game on Saturday.

He is winning at UNA. Don't know what his 2011 signing class looked like but his 2010 class was 25 FBS transfers, no freshmen. News reports indicate that many of them had arrests or multiple arrests to their name.

I say that Randy Shannon has a better chance of being the next FAU head Coach. Both Leach and Levitt were fired for abusing players and Davis still has the UNC scandal that is still fresh in the news. Shannon is a local guy with who is well respected and get the local recruits to stay home and play for FAU.
