This article is interesting about ND's future schedule...it has so many changes that ND took its future schedules off the internet...with the removing of NC state and the bigger commetment with the Big Ten, Big East and being independent , to name a few. ND states that "it makes sense for us to want the Big East to hang together"....but does not tell the reason why....anyways enjoy the article. As always, ND is just hard to figure out....

The Big East has been bending over backwards and kissing their backside for so long that Notre Dame has become comfortable with it and now just expect it.

And CUSA would do it any differently?

The BE needs Notre Dame.

Why don't you guys jsut cut them off? I mean, I know its ND but if they aren't a full conference member why they get bowl tie ins vai the BE? I think you guys got played.

If we didn't have Notre Dame right now--we'd be hoping to beat out the CUSA for a chance to play the Sunbelt Champ.

Silly talk to jettison ND.

Sadly, at this point it remains financially viable for the conference to retain it's affiliation with ND. That kinship secures at least two bowl berths that the conference may not have otherwise, or at least might lose some value.

The BE does have an ace in this hand, and that is the location within ND's richest recruiting ground and fan base. ND's interest in keeping the BE together is for the purposes of preventing the conference from truly establishing itself and sapping football talent and enthusiasm from the Irish coffers. Eventually, I hope, the BE will be able to stand on it's own and ND will be forced to deal with the BE programs on an even basis; None of this "neutral site" game at the Meadowlands crap.
