I think it is stupid not to play a team that is in your conference in basketball. There are so many games. It's much different in football, where you don't play that many. We should have played everyone once. That would have freed up an even beefier non-conference schedule. Not playing everyone is a real downer for me.

Maybe I'm just slow, but what's your point? 15 conference games. If you have to balance it make one rivalry game.

Answer: TV, TV, TV. If the Big East can get a dozen games out of pairing up Louisville, UConn, Nova, Cincy, Syracuse, and WVU in some grouping or another, they are going to earn a heck of a lot more money than if Louisville were to play Seton Hall. It may make for a screwy schedule and a complete lack of a "round robin", but it is what it is and it won't be changing anytime soon.

The Big East women are playing everybody once and then their main rival a second time in order to get to 16 games. But the men can't do it like that because TV only wants to do "marquee" games.

Just hang on for five years, everyone. Just five more years. Then there can be two separate conferences, both playing round robin hoops schedules. Everything will be better when 2010 rolls around.

Sometimes, I get tired of treading water. It reminds me of the old Bill Cosby routine when God says to Noah, "Noah, how long can you tread water?"

I just hope no one drowns within the next five years.

It's hard to balance out SIXTEEN teams. Yeah you could play 15 game schedule and play one team each, which I actually preferred, but the home-and-home generates big time viewership which guarantees a sweeter T.V. deal with guarantees big money down the road. It's all about the lettuce, the green backs, the benjamins, the C-notes, the moolah, the legal tender! $$$$$$$$$

The Big East is all about the $$$$. Last year, Pitt was projected to be hot so we get to play UCONN, Syracuse and ND twice. Although it made for exciting schedule that is brutal.

I for one was glad not to see that again this year. It's a lot less brutal of a schedule for Pitt.

having the home-home is big. if it wasn't there, it would kill a lot of fan iterest and rivalries. Memphis, Louisville, and Cincy were all home-home in previous decades and conferences. after CUSA split Memphis to one side by itself, these intrest died. There was no more "wait till we woop you again in our place" or "we'll get you back in a week" or whatever.
playing all 15 teams in the conf..... that just becomes to much simular to an ooc schedule.
