Wow. And if the Big XII loses Missouri and then targets (gets) Louisville and WVU, the Big East is toast as far as AQ is concerned (don't they redo the BCS after this year?). Hell, they maybe toast as a football conference unless they can add 3 teams and it will be a step down if they lose Pitt and WVU.

If Mizzou leaves, the Big East is killed and relagnment does not reach the SBC schools.

If Mizzou stays, the Big East will raid CUSA and then it's "Good Luck and Godspeed" to all SBC schools.

If Mizzou leaves, then the Big XII needs 3 to get back to 12 (if they want that). They can add just one to get to 10. I am sure they are looking at BYU as a possible addition. Add Louisville and WVU and viola, back to 12 and maintaining AQ status. Big East is left with 4 teams (Cin, Conn, Rutgers, and South Florida). They will need 4 to survive and they can kiss AQ goodbye, regardless of who they get. Who in the heck do they target? ECU and UCF? Army and Navy? And stepping away from football, they are losing Pitt and Syracuse. If they lose Louisville and WVU, they take a massive hit in basketball.

If this happens, I say look for the ACC to try and go to 16 and add UConn for sure and try to find another team.

Is the Sunbelt ready to react and scoop up teams when the CUSA east gets raided?

I'd take:

Southern Miss
UAB
La Tech

Move fast and as a package before CUSA rebounds by taking some of your membership.

I doubt it. Id' like to think that WW is on the phone just in case, but one never knows. LA Tech is a issue due to many factors. They dont want us and many of us dont want them. They have made thier WAC bed, and I think will now have to lie in it.

We are currently at 10 right now once USA comes on line, so I could see offering a life raft to Southern Miss and UAB. Althought 3 teams in AL may be a bit much.

Poaching 2 CUSA schools away would be a coup.

Eh, yes and no to having 3 teams in Alabama. I think that you would position the centralized part of the conference in both divisions with this, the central of the west would be louisiana with UL, ULM and La Tech and surrounded closely with UNT and ASU, on the east you'd have Alabama as the central with Troy, USA, and UAB and MT and to a lesser extent WKU surrounding it in the east. Both would have a central bowl game, West being the New Orleans Bowl and East being the Godaddy Bowl. We shall see what falls, but if CUSA starts to fall apart, we ABSOLUTELY have to be proactive because we can really improve the conference.

If you brought in all 3 teams he mentioned were at 13, which is an odd number. Being super aggressive one could also make an offer to Tulane.

Sun Belt West:
Cajuns
LATech
stAte
Tulane
ULM
UNT
USM

Sun Belt East
FAU
FIU
MTSU
Troy
UAB
USA
WKU

Not gonna happen but that wouldnt be bad would it?

RE: TCU to join Big 12
All I know is that when WAC tried to make a move like that they got stabbed and left to die in the gutter.

No way Sun Belt can pull off a CUSA raid unless the members hold firm and no one in the league has the stones to try it after what happened to Utah State.

Only difference in our situation and the WAC's is there are enough FCS in the process of moving or close to moving to keep the league in good shape.

I didn't get into it in my last post but I don't see you keeping FIU or even FAU long term.

So the addition of the 2 newest Texas schools is logical.

Tulane could be a great grab, but even rumors
Of Big 12 taking them. Rice would also be good if not taken by MWC

Where do you see them going?

ACC? Possible I gues but dont think so
SEC? Nope
CUSA? Would they dump UAB and Smiss for FAU/FIU?
Big East? Im assuming is dead in your scenario.

Because of the mystical Florida market or how FIU was going to run all over us poor little guys with their top 40 rushing attack, self proclaimed best QB, all american WR, self proclaimed best coach in the league, and their one tie for the Sun Belt title in football lol?

I don't see either of them bolting to a depleted conference USA.

The market is one piece yes, but I tink the other major factor is getting to play in front of your recurits that are in S. Florida. FAU and FIU are in PRIME locations for some of the best talent in the state. Now most of it goes to the big boys, but even the lower tier Florida HS players are easily top perfomres in Non-AQ leagues.

I too would rather stay in the 'Belt if CUSA gets raided.

Just as likely as not as for this happening. A top USA official when I asked if he's been on the phone with C-USA lately about joining and he confirmed the above is a distinct possibility... that joining C-USA may not be the best option because they may be depleted by the Big Least and the SBC might end up in the driver's seat in this one.

This is very interesting. I could see the BL attempting to get ECU, UCF, Houston, and SMU. However, the BL still has the issue of WVU, UConn, Cincy, Rutgers, and Louisville wanting to leave for the ACC or Big 12.

I have a list of conditions for LTU to satisfy before rejoining the belt.

The Top 3 on my list:

1. A pledge of non-interference (if not outright cooperation) on "name issue"
2. Placing them in the same division as ULM
3. Imposing prohibitive and draconian penalties for exiting the conference

All of which means that it'll never happen.

No. I was the first person to say good win you guys beat us fair and square last year just like the other team who did.
