RE: Unofficial NIU/CMU game thread
I won't say that our D isn't REALLY bad...they are. But something that had a really big impact on this game.......was Harnish. He was just off. He didn't start looking like himself until the 4th quarter. I believe he knows full well he was off and probably blames himself as being a lot responsible for the loss.

I hope that this loss can light a fire under the team and the coaching staff. I think playing at home will help too. But, We can't expect every season to be like last year or like 2003. Even great programs have a few off years and not every year is great. How can we expect these kids to go out there and try their hardest when we as fans can't even show up and support them in their efforts?

Yes, winning is fantastic. Losing sucks big time. But I will continue to be there for the games this year and every year .....win or lose...and I will cheer on the Huskies until the day I die.

That is as few visiting fans I've ever seen NIU bring to a game. Granted I dont go as often as some, maybe about 10 road games or so since '05 and 7 MAC road games

Harnish had bad moments and some good ones. Mostly, he didn't play well at all.
Has our O-line been less dominant or is our running backs not making the plays they used to?
Is our defense bad in a way that can't be fixed by coaching? I feel like it is. They tackle like garbage and are undersized. I'm not sure I can blame coaching for the defense's problems.
Hmm. Whats up with that field goal attempt at the end of the first half? I wasn't a fan of that.

Some positives...I was actually really impressed with our kicking today. He might not be super powerful but his accuracy is pretty good and he is only a freshman....he'll get better.

Ah. Yeah, thats it.

I think I have to put a lot of blame on matt canada.

Not that any of our problem is offensively, but Im not sure the no huddle style is well suited for our team. I think Harnish struggles with it at times. It might be better if you have a bruising back that can wear down the defense, we don't really have that type of running back.

Yes. Pretty sad, isn't it, when your stable of backs include(d) Jamal Womble and Cameron Bell? Maybe we should put both of them on the field at the same time.

Great thread from two years ago. Everyone was on suicide watch after this game and Doeren started his NIU career 2-3. The next week we introduced black jerseys and we've gone 25-2 since then including 2 MAC Championships, 1 bowl win, 1 BCS bowl appearance, 3 wins over BCS opponents, haven't lost at home, haven't lost at MAC game, multiple times in the top 25 etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.
