Jarboe added to Biletnikoff List

JONESBORO, Ark. (9/23/2011) — Arkansas State junior wide receiver Josh Jarboe (Decatur, Ga.) has been added to the watch list for the 2011 Biletnikoff Award, presented annually to the nation’s outstanding college football receiver.

Jarboe is the second ASU player this season to be placed on the watch list. Senior wideout Dwayne Frampton (Wilmington, Calif.) was named to the list prior to the season.

Through ASU’s first three games this season, Jarboe has hauled in 16 passes for 258 yards and two touchdowns and ranks 39th nationally with an 86.0 yards-per-game average, a figure that also ranks second in the Sun Belt Conference and leads the Red Wolves.

Following his performance in ASU’s 47-3 victory over Memphis Sept. 10, Jarboe was selected as one of nine wide receivers from across the nation to be named to the honorable mention list for the College Football Performance Awards' Wide Receiver of the Week award. Jarboe hauled in seven passes for 162 yards and two touchdowns in the Red Wolves' win over the Tigers. His 162 receiving yards ranked as the 10th-best single game performance all-time at ASU and is the 13th-highest total in the nation this season. His 162-yard performance was also the best by an ASU player since 1999.

The recipient of the 2011 Biletnikoff Award will be announced live on ESPN on The Home Depot College Football Awards on Thursday, December 8th.

Jarboe and the Red Wolves will take the field Saturday, Sept. 24 when ASU hosts Central Arkansas in a 7:00 p.m. game at ASU Stadium. The televised broadcast has been tabbed the "Centennial Shootout" and is being produced by KATV-7 (Little Rock), but will also air on affiliate stations KAIT-8 (Jonesboro), KNWA-51 (Fayetteville) and ESPN3.com.

Season and single-game tickets for all five of ASU’s remaining home games remain available and can be ordered by contacting the ASU Box Office at 870-972-ASU1 or 1-888-ASU-FANS or by visiting AStateRedWolves.com.

He seems contrite and appreciative that he has another chance. Hopefully he has grown up some.

I've watched all of ASU's games this year and he has impressed me. It makes me jealous that he decided to be a badass with you guys instead of us. Especially since we could sure use a WR like him right now. Oh well, you win some and you lose some.

The fact that this is his last shot and Coach Freeze's mentoring have really humbled him I think.

Good article on him.

Jarboe is the real deal and ASU is very lucky to have him.

Jarboe, Dwayne Frampton, Frankie Jackson and Ryan Aplin are the only players on the ASU offense that you can count on from week to week. The rest come and go. I guess that was to be expected when you are dealing primarily with players that have produced 4 win seasons.

Watched a little of ASU vs. Memphis on ESPN3. ASU has one hell of an offense and a pretty decent defense to go along. I like their LB corps and the thing I like most about their offense is the speed in which they run it.

The sun belt has 3 teams that are at the very least, high quality non aq teams. I can't remember a time where we had 3 teams of this caliber. I am not sure Troy and FIU are the clear top two, I think FIU is in a class of their own and should be able to run through SBC play with Hilton. Troy and ASU will be battling for second and third IMO. Not very far behind by any means is MTSU, I still haven't gotten around to watching any film on them, but I have been watching every sun belt game I can via xbox live on the archives. Hooking that up to my HDTV is just awesome. I thoroughly enjoy watching my conference mates games and scouting the teams. I have watch everyone but MT play and this is how I see it.

1. FIU
2.Troy
2.ASU
3.MT
4.ULM
5.UL
6.FAU
7.UNT
8.FAU

Stockemer is a very good WR. He doesn't drop balls like Frampton.

And if he hadn't made a rap video talking about shooting people, after being caught on a high school campus with a gun and weed (or whatever it was), he'd still be at OK State. The guy is a f--- up. It's only a matter of time before he screws up again. An adult only gets so many chances from me, and he wouldn't have had a chance at ASU if it were my decision.

It's worked out so far for them though.

I've had one opportunity to visit with him. Admittedly it was brief but the kid I met was nothing like the one I heard about here and in sports columns. After big plays he hasn't done anything to call attention to himself either.

OU, not Ok St, but I don't even think he'd still be there. He'd probably be in the NFL by now, because he probably would have left as early as he could as soon as someone told him he had a shot at getting drafted.
