Kill's recruiting
While no one will disagree that he left certain positions stacked (wide receiver, and maybe RB comes to mind)...

Let's take a look at the defense. Only 2 starters are redshirt seniors (Novak's recruits). Granted one of them is Schiller, and he's bad. Delegal is the other, and he hasn't shown much either.

So what say you all? 4 of our 5 O linemen are Novak's, as well as Harnish. I have a feeling that rough times are ahead for the NIU huskies. I hope I'm wrong.

RE: Kill's recruiting
I just don't get what happened to Cameron Stingily, Mike Hellams and Greg Barksdale. They were supposed to be this beast corps of linebackers.

Jamal Bass is starting as a redshirt freshman, pretty impressive.

Then of course we harken back to the losses of our best players LY in Devon Butler & Tyrone Clark.

Jimmie Ward is a beast. He brought on Melvin as a walk-on.

The DL should get better as the season goes on.

DeLegal is a Kill recruit. He played one year of JC before coming to NIU. Plus 2 of the 4 RBs are new this year, so not Kill recruits either.

Agree.

The MAC title window is closing FAST. You lose 4 of 5 starters in OL and a MVP QB you are taking a major step backwards. 2012 will see GREAT Wrs, but will they have a Qb who can get them the ball? The 2012 D should be improved due to add backs and experience.

Not sure Kill was a very good evaluator of football talent, but more of an ATHLETE type recruiter. Good at recruiting athletic types like Chris Smith,Anthony Johnson. His recruiting at OL and DL to me are questionable. Would not be surprised if a couple of DD Oline recruits play next year.

We need a JC dt who is MFer and probably a JC OL that can play NOW.

I liked the brief amount i have seen from McIntosh too. I believe he will beat out Lynch for the qb spot next year. It will be hard for whoever is the next qb because they will be following Harnish who may end up the best NIU QB ever

Doeren has a huge recruiting task in front of him. No doubt about it.

Delegal is a Kill recruit, not a Novak recruit!!!

RE: Kill's recruiting
Am I missing something in Lynch? He seems to me to have some good QB qualities. Is he Harnish? no. But gone are the days of Haldi's passing skills (as all of Huskie Stadium collectively gasped every time he threw a pass).

I think offensively we have established ourselves as a destination, especially if Harnish is able to get drafted. Defensively Doeren should be able to pick up the pieces and recruit solid, provided he stays for more than a season or two.

RE: Kill's recruiting
I am curious what TYPE of defensive player he will look at....Novak looked for big and powerful, Kill wanted strong and fast....unfortunately, we now have small and slow. It will be interesting to see if DD looks for size or speed.

RE: Kill's recruiting
I would probably venture a guess that he is going to go after the same style of player as he had defensively in Wisconsin. (again, provided he sticks around)

RE: Kill's recruiting
The worst thing about a Huskie loss, it brings out certain people who only post after losses. I really think people are overreacting to Kansas, it was a disappointing game but I still think NIU is a top 25 caliber program this year.
