This lady announcer isn't nearly as annoying as Pam Ward, but I'm still gonna mute her.

FAU is really bad on offense. Only 1 first down in the half.

Gonna be an ugly year. 03-banghead

The QBs finished 6 of 13 for 26 yards and were sacked three times.

Wait... WHAAT?? 48 total yards??? 26 yards passing??? surely this can't be right.

Not trying to stir the pot, but FAU did look pretty horrible. What happened to all the good coaching and talent from 2007 and 2008?

Apparently we were unable to cash in on those years and bowl games from ANY standpoint (coaching, recruiting).

This is the WORST loss in FAU history including our FCS years.

I NEVER expected to see this. Its a good thing Howard announced his retirement because after this he would of been fired for sure. I was expecting FAU to hold off on a coach till the end of the season but I'm not sure we can afford to do that anymore.

After 2 days of reflection here is my post on Owls nest about the team and program at the moment.
__________________________________________________________________
I didnt expect to win. Hell, I didnt even expect to compete.

I DO EXPECT: The offense to be able to move the ball forward MORE THAN ONCE A GAME.
I DO EXPECT: The defense to have FUNDAMENTAL TACKLING SKILLS.
I DO EXPECT: Coachs to CHEW PEOPLE OUT IF THEY ARE NOT PLAYING WELL
I DO EXPECT: That if the plays you are running arent working, THEN CHANGE THE PLAYCALLING.
I DO EXPECT: That if someone does not perfrom, PULL THEM FROM THE GAME AND TRY SOMEONE NEW.

That's why I'm still upset even 2 days later. NOTHING happened in this game. Literally NOTHING.

And for that reasson for this week the Owls are dead to me as a fan. For the 1st time in 10 years I will not wear any FAU gear around town. For the 1st time in 10 years I am EMBARRASSED to call myself an FAU fan. I will only discuss the Owls at work if directly asked.

Im not calling for heads because frankly the heads have already been cutoff with HS retiring. Thier bodies just dont know it yet. There will be no changes now, because the change is already made. Sadly we will have a completely wasted season. Look for FAU to be cellar dweller for 2-3 years untill the new coach can get his players and style up and running.

Unfortunately, we (FIU fans) know how tough a road getting out of a mess left by the previous administration is going to be. And there is no sure fire way to know you made the right decision on coaching. If you look back to when we hired Mario, there was a lot of pushback at hiring an OL Coach from um without any prior HC experience. You never know. I wish you guys the best of luck.

If I remember correctly, our first choice was Randy Shannon, however, UM swooped in and scooped him up. So we were left with MC (who turned out to be a perfect fit for FIU).

FAU on the other hand is in a catch 22. They need large crowds to win and compete for recruits, however, they need large paydays to pay the mortgage on that $65 million stadium.

Coming home after going 0-5 or 1-4 won't pack the house, so w/o the home crowd revenue, they will need to schedule more body-bags. How do you break this cycle? What's the annual mortgage payment on that note? $5-$7 million per year? So three body bags will cover 1/2 of that; and if your clearing $200k for your own home games your probably doing real good...so that's another million. So every year, even with body bags, your running a $2 - $4 million deficit to your stadium. The balance of the money to pay the mortgage comes from your general fund.

How long can you keep that up? probably indefinitely....problem is, 3 AQ road games to start every season simply to mitigate your losses from running the program is not a recipe for much success.

They aren't going to start every season with 3 straight AQ games. This season's schedule was just weird because of the stadium opening late. UAB was supposed to be an early season game that they ended up moving back until later in the year. Anyway, according to the stadium agreement, the annual debt service obligation is a maximum of $2.5 million, so 2 AQ games will likely be sufficient. I'm sure that the future schedules will look more like our 2012 schedule (at Georgia, at Alabama, at Navy(part of a home and home series), and then a 4th OOC home game, which maybe a I-AA opponent).

The stats from this game are staggering. It may be a god thing that HS is calling it quits because 1 first down and 48 total yards is not what one expects from your offense when 2 FBS schools play at any level, period. Hell, FCS schools do better than that in a payday game. Hopefully it gets better.
