I'm thinking marionette, but I could definitely see Ransdell with his hand up Bjork's ass.

Seriously, what the hell are they doing to the athletic program up there. It's not even fun to beat you guys anymore because you've been so hapless, and I blame the majority of that on Ransdell and the decision to bring McDonald back.

What's your opinion?

Um, we barely beat them last year and they looked good against UK (a team better than Purdue imo)...igsnay on the alkting itshay.

it all came down to this recruiting class.

ransdell was enamored with it and was afraid they'd jump ship if he cut mcdonald loose.

i honestly think the top 2 would have come no matter what and wasn't worried about the rest.

they restructured his contract from 350k to 250k and made the buyout more palatable.

he underachieves this year (a normal kermit year .500) and he's gone. they believe after a year on campus the class will stay.

the 100k less will offset some of the massive sucking sound of folks not renewing season tix.

that's my read and i'd bet it's pretty dead on (i'm awesome that way)

p.s. did you see a single d1 athlete on western last thursday???

1) Unless Kentucky just came out flat against WKU, they are not the better team. That Kentucky QB was baaaad, I don't expect either team to go bowling this year without showing big time improvements, but that doesn't change the fact that Purdue is probably better...or less bad at least.

2) The focus of the post was overall programs and he specifically made mention of basketball, but no mention of football(though it was implied by virtue of the fact that he was talking about the entire program)

3) Unless Jakes improves ten fold, we'll beat the Toppers comfortably this year.

Jakes was 1 yrd, a fluke play and a bad replay from beating MT comfortably last year. Stockstill wouldn't have looked as good going 5-7 or 4-8. If Stock ever leaves, a program can go down quickly based on new hire....see WKU hoops.

Looking forward to the MT-WKU matchup this year...

It was also probably the third or fourth worst game we played all season and the third or fourth best game you played all season.

Not to take anything away from Western's improvements, but I think we've improved just as much or more and we'll be playing at home. If Rainey plays a good game and Jakes doesn't beat himself, it will probably be a comfortable game with the home team pulling away in the second half and winning by 10-14 points.

And if Stock ever leaves, I'm confident we'll find a great replacement, Massaro's hiring record is impeccable.
