This morning on CNBC a talking head said they may have to devalue it 40% to balance the books. They just have to get Germany and France on board??? That would definitely help the dollar as THE ONLY reserve currency. We see the flood of money coming in AFTER the S&P downgrade. My guess is people read the tea leaves and saw this happening last week. THIS is a great time to be a stock trader. You just can't hold em. Hit and run.

there's no doubt about that. When Germany goes into recession, what happens to Italy, Spain, Portugal and eventually, France?

Germany would be fine if they weren't dragged down by the south. I read an article, I think it was in the Economist online, but can't find it now, saying that the northern part of continental Europe is now wishing they had treated the Alps and the Pyrenees as the same sorts of physical barriers to the Eurozone as UK treated the Channel. I might add, as the Nordic countries (except Finland) have treated Skaggerat and Kattegat.
