I think stAte has done a great job with thier uniforms, helmets, Mascots.

The Red Wolves is a very unique looking design IMHO and if they ever make a splash in the Top 25 or so I could see people really getting behind it.

RE: Favorite Football Helmet in the Belt
If I exclude my school, I pick FAU. Just like how they use the text to suggest the mascot, just as our logo suggests A-State as most of our older fans call it (not sure what them young'uns do).

FIU would be my next choice. Then MT I just don't like how it appears to have a haze over because the Lightining logo doesn't show up well. Troy would be higher but the lack of contrast makes it hard to see. I've not see the white shell towel logo yet didn't look that good on silver so change may be positive. The Ragin Cajun and North Texas obvious text helmets don't do it for me. I think UNT was better off with the flying worm or the shield eagle, two retro classics. The Tri-Fleur De Lis was a great look but I'm sure a marketing nightmare and the old USL just won't work. I think they made lemonade with no real obvious options. The ULM logo just doesn't show up well.

Sorry..I voted before I read that you didn't want homers....so I voted stAte. Now if I had read the thread first I probably would have voted WKU....I like a design that means something....trust me the stAte design does too.

It's hard not to be a homer with a helmet this awesome:

But, don't feel bad, you all still get the better schedule posters.

RE: Favorite Football Helmet in the Belt
stAte logo. Barring surprise on opening day, this the 27th season of that logo being used on the helmet and 32nd year since its introduction.

FAU text wings, seventh season

FIU 4th season since addition of the panther

RAGIN CAJUN 13th season of some variation of the full text

Hawk head. 6th season

MT 13th season of MT plus the horse and lightining

NORTH TEXAS 11th season since the text went on, 7th of non-script text.

Troy Shield. 8th season of the shield (I like this logo, a nice upgrade)

Towel. 9th season it is the primary helmet logo, only significant change has been the helmet shell color.

I think that branding stability is a nice development. There have been tweaks (for example font size and colors) but a person snatched by aliens out of the stands at Cajun Field in 1999, could be shown today's helmet and not pause for a second recognizing it today.

not to be a homer, but I really like FAU's it's not the whole logo like FIU, it's readable, it still incorporates the wings, it's clean, it's great.

If I had to pick other than my school, I too will say state, for similar reasons, very readable... cool.

I went homer too, but I think our helmets look best. I like a clean, classic look that isn't too "busy". I would have rated our previous helmet with the headdress at the bottome.

I like FAU's as well and the latest Troy design. I like ULL's after those two. I honestly don't know what USA's looks like.

I don't think our helmets are as effective as they could be.

The Jag just seems to blend in on that helmet. Either change the background or color in the cat head. Then it would pop.

Changing the helmet???

From what I hear it will be a much more traditional look with possibly a black helmet. But, we won't know until Wed. they have done a super job keeping this change a secret. The only photos that have been leeked are a black helmet with the current font, but Coach Hud wants has been quoted as he wants something more traditional.

The logo is sharp but it's just missing some more color. Maybe a blue stripe or a blue facemask?
