isn't it supposed to count as a 'conference' game? If we're at 8 conference games next season, who won't we be playing?

I don't believe it will count as a conference game, it will count as a FBS game, but they'll still be basically a strong FCS team.

USA will count as a conference game next year.

Whether or not it counts as a conference game does not change how I feel about it. We're accustomed to having six home games at MT and with all due respect to USA, having to go to Mobile for a seventh road game pisses me off and I actually really like Mobile.

South should have nothing to do with the amount of home games you have. We will be considered an SBC opponent. You will not be playing an 8 game conference schedule plus South. MT will play an 8 (4 home 4 away) game conference schedule including South. Do you expect us to play all of our conference games on the road just because it will be our first year?

It would have still been a road game for you, just to the team you are now not playing next year.

which means we likely won't have either FIU, the red wolves, or the cajuns on the schedule in 2012...

I don't understand how they count as a conference game and will be taking the place of another conference opponent, but not be able to play for a bowl or the conference title.

I suppose it makes more sense than what I had originally thought, that we'd be playing them in addition to an 8 game conference schedule, but still, just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

ASU wont play either ULM, MTSU, or FAU in 2012. We know WKU and USA are confirmed home games. the other 3 were to be home games, one spot of which USA is taking.

I don't think we are in a place to talk down about MTSU football or their fans. MTSU is established and will have quite an advantage over us and more than likely win the game. No need to bash their fans either... MTSU had the highest FB attendance in the conference last year. Are you an expert on how well they travel? I wouldn't imagine you are.

Are y'all excited to play the Jags to see how we stack up? Will a lot of you be traveling to Mobile in 2012? I'm excited that we get to host Troy first, as I think this will turn into a great rivalry and we should be able to draw our biggest crowd yet for that game.

Very excited to play the Jags next year, i think you guys will be very good very soon.. Can't wait to head over to Mobile as well, i know that will be a great trip... Now if we just could get ULAR to add football!!

Cute.

I'm glad South Alabama made the commitment to add football and to do it the right way, I like the school, the campus and the city.

While I'm sure there was some intentional hyperbole for the sake of pot stirring in that post, talking trash about our football team or our fanbase is pretty laughable. We've won the more league games than anyone and the 2nd most since Troy joined the conference and we'll travel better to Mobile than everyone in the conference with the obvious exception of Troy and possibly the Cajuns.

Why not? Historically when Troy has in-state rivals play at VMS we have large crowds. If you add in the future rivalry between us and the chance for a SBC victory both schools should have great attendance for our yearly encounter.

u

I would think sell outs would be possible. More so at Troy with a smaller stadium. I guess a lot would depend on the records at the end of the year and how many fans troy brings down to Mobile. How well does Troy travel to UAB?

Potentially the matchup could be awesome if both teams have good records, 40,000 fans packed in and
2 great bands rocking the place! Hopefully that happens n
