He's a hell of a player, but do you guys really think he has a shot at the Heisman?

No way unless he absolutely wrecks every team you play and you go 12-0 this year.

RE: FIU launches Hilton4Heisman page
Hilton is one of the greatest players in the short history of Sun Belt football, and I think he has a fine NFL career ahead of him, but he would have to put up video game type numbers, and FIU would have to go defeated for him to have any shot. That won't happen.

Hilton might not even be the best player in the Sun Belt. If Hilton is a Heisman candidate, then Rainy and Dunbar should also be considered.

Whatever you do don't change his jersey number to 4. MT fans know what I am talking about. Remember the Hicks4heisman campaign.

Plus...

"Since BYU's Ty Detmer won the Heisman Trophy in 1990, no college player from a non-BCS team has won the award."

It's all about publicity. It doesn't take a genius to realize that it is about creating buzz around campus for the upcoming season.

From the Herald:

HILTON4HEISMAN: FIU has launched a Twitter site pumping receiver/returner T.Y. Hilton for the Heisman Trophy. It is Hilton4Heisman, which I am happy to relay in parochial support. Smart publicity avenue for the school and football program. Of course the odds are beyond long for a Sun Belt player. It would take truly spectacular individual stats chased by another bowl season to even get on the national radar, but, in the social-media era, this is the natural start.

Even Greg Cote gets it and he's the biggest dbag at the herald.

yeah, I was thinking afterwards it may not be a bad idea in that sense, not sure the publicity you will get on ESPN for it, but even if it creates a buzz on campus to get some more butts in seats, could be a good thing.

I was not aware of that. Hopefully, he will stay injury free than.

As for ESPN you never know since our second game of the year @Louisville is on ESPN. They might mention it during the telecast, especially if TY has a good game in the opener vs. UNT.
