All but two Sun Belt schools are in the Central Time Zone.

The WAC breaks down like this
Central: Tech, UTA, UTSA, TexSt
Mountain: NMSU, USU, (potentially Montana and Montana State)
Pacific: Idaho, San Jose, Seattle.

Sports flying commerical from Tech (ie. everything except football) are looking at 9 to 12 hours flight time to get to Idaho. If Montana joins that's 8 to 12 hours. Seattle is a more manageable 6 1/2 to 9 hours.

Compare that to the UNT vs FIU/FAU route. Flights run 4 1/2 to 6 1/2 hours.

I am guessing you are including connections and layovers...

That's why I differentiated from football where charter flights are employed.

They fly commercial? Even we fly chartered through Air Tran.

Most everyone flies commerical for sports other than football.

True. Forgot about that. Was thinking football. This where being in a small town sucks as an expansion candidate. Who wants to go to Boise?

At Arkansas State we can charter out of nearby Walnut Ridge (30 min from campus) but flying commerical we have slightly over an hour drive depending on traffic to get to Memphis or right at two hours to Little Rock which we've done on an occasion or two. Basketball last I knew was talking of chartering small jets out of Jonesboro but I think Title IX concerns (ie. can't afford to also offer to the women) has been an issue. That airport abuts campus.

LaTech's new school song in link above.

Most unrealistic fans in the history of the NCAA. They start their noise about not wanting in the 'Belt but no one in the 'Belt is pushing for em' of late. I guess when they get bored they start their "we don't want in the 'Belt" rant thinking maybe more than 10 people really care.

But you guys on here are proof that clearly more than ten of you do care what Tech does. Beats me why but you do. almost eerily obsessed with it.

Montana said "no" after Boise State announced its departure.
Montana said "no" after Fresno, Nevada, and Hawaii bailed out.

Now Montana is going to reverse course and come in after adding yet another Texas school?

That's what Bobcat report is saying and they have been pretty accurate. There are not too many trains left leaving the FCS station I guess.

The Bobcat Report is a sad attempt at objective journalism. Lamar will be invited to the WAC, but Montana and Montana State will not leave the FCS for the WAC. Montana has made their decision loud and clear that there are only three scenarios that would likely send them to the FBS:

#1. An invitation to a Power $ix AQ conference.
#2. An invitation to the Mountain West (and that one's not a given).
#3. A complete relocation of the Big Sky to the FBS.

As Arkstfan mentioned, Montana rejected the WAC under better circumstances. There is no way Montana is swayed to the WAC now. And as we in the West do know: For that way which Montana does go, so goes Montana State.

LOL. The Mountain West apparently did.
