A fair point, but it assumes that Casey actually did it. There's no evidence to show that she was even involved with, let alone responsible for, the child's death.

No evidence? Come on, as someone commented elsewhere, it's not 'proof beyond the shadow of a doubt' - it is 'proof beyond a reasonable doubt' , it does not mean an absolute certainty. Look, the first degree murder charge may have been overreaching, but this jury had the opportunity to find for guilt on other charges more serious than lying to investigtors, but did not and I find that appalling.
I think this case was lost during jury selection more than anything the defense did or the prosecution failed to do.

Have any of y'all ever been on trial as a criminal defendant for a crime you didn't commit? Well, I have, and let me tell you, it's not fun trying to remain "emotionless" as the government lies and lies about you on the stand before a jury of your peers.
The jury did its job. The prosecutors were hell-bent on killing this young lady and failed to present evidence for a lesser conviction... something I certainly MIGHT have considered had the government also given the jury another option other than BLOODLUST for a hazy case at best.
KUDOS to my fellow Citizens and FOR SHAME on my government -slash- POLICE STATE. Next time, may the state actually PROVE something to my fellow Citizens before placing another one of my fellow Citizens in peril for his/her Life, Liberty and Freedom....
LET FREEDOM RING!!!!

I'm sorry, but there was nothing that could prove that she did it. There was plenty to cast her in a negative light, there was enough evidence to make it seem like it was very likely that she had something to do with it, but I don't think the evidence was there to convict on murder one, or even aggravated manslaughter, or realistically, even aggravated child abuse. I think criminal negligence is what they should have gone after.

I agree with you to a degree. You cannot prove that Casey did it....it very well could have been her father. But one of them was responsible.

Wonder if she had not been as attractive if she would have been found "not guilty". Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmmm........
