JONESBORO, Ark. (6/30/2011) — The Arkansas State Department of Athletics has announced that KNWA, the NBC affiliate in Fayetteville, Ark. will air the broadcast of the Red Wolves’ home football game against the University of Central Arkansas scheduled for Sept. 24.

KNWA becomes the second announced affiliate for the broadcast of the game, joining KAIT, the ABC affiliate in Jonesboro. The game will be sponsored by Centennial Bank and will originate from KATV, the ABC affiliate in Little Rock. The telecast of the game as been tabbed as the “Centennial Shootout” and will include a pregame show prior to the 7:00 p.m. kickoff.

“We are delighted that KNWA has picked up this game and will provide this opportunity to expose Red Wolves Football to our fans and supporters in Northwest Arkansas,” said ASU Director of Athletics Dr. Dean Lee. “We anticipate a tremendous crowd and know the environment at ASU Stadium will be outstanding.”

"KNWA is proud to be airing the Arkansas State-University of Central Arkansas game on Sept. 24.,” said Lisa Kelsey, Director of Sales at KNWA. “KNWA anticipates an exciting game between these two in-state universities, and we look forward to sharing this excitement with our viewers in Northwest Arkansas and the River Valley."

The Red Wolves set a school record with 10 televised games during the 2010 season, and already have four contests set for broadcast during the 2011 campaign. The Sept. 3 season-opener at Illinois will be broadcast by the Big 10 Network, the Sept. 17 contest at Virginia Tech will air on Fox Sports, and the Oct. 18 game against Florida International will be broadcast nationally from ASU Stadium on ESPN2.

We were lucky to get it in NWA at all. I'm surprised there isn't a message board uprising.

Wow! This is just awesome for sTate! I'd sure like to see the USA/Troy rivalry drum up this much statewide exposure and interest but with AU & UA, it's just not all that likely.

Welcome to the politics that is Arkansas Television Stations.

I truly hope that this game is not competitive. You guys should destroy UCA.

This game is stirring up so much animosity.

ASU fans want to show that they have separated themselves from their FCS brethren because the perception is that ASU is not a source of exciting football in Arkansas.

Uark-f fans who are conditioned to believe in the "one-team, one-state, one-ice cream (too soon?)" policy want to see ASU lose so as to preserve the perceived division among ASU and uark-f. The ones that are semi-appreciative of an intrastate competition want this to become a regular thing, but won't fully commit to saying it should be ASU and uark-f playing.

So UCA fans, though few, are being given a pat on the back in the hopes they take down ASU.

This is a good chance for ASU to showcase Jonesboro, our team, and our ability to treat an FCS team as just another rent-a-win.

Yeah, with the coverage in Central Arkansas, NE Arkansas, and NW Arkansas that should cover the vast majority of the population in Arkansas.

UCA will put out their best effort as this is an in-state game that they will want to win badly. I am confident that stAte will win, but it may very well be a close game.

You can make the one team one state one ice cream line...but I doubt any of the SBC fans are aware of that controversy.

Lets be clear, UCA is pretty good, and we cant just walk in and expect to win, or we'll go the way of Western Kentucky and have a really embarrasing loss to explain.

Im not confident it will be a blow out..They took out WKU in a year that WKU should have betaen us. However we are at home, will have home crowd edge, and our team plays well there historically...hopefully thatll come through in the end for us.

True, but that game against WKU we started a running back at linebacker because we were literally out of available linebackers and if I recall right, ASU came into the game with six active players on the offensive line and there was only one or two offensive linemen starting that night who had been starting in the opening game and Leonard had been lost for the season.

It should not be a close game. I'm not saying we will completely destroy them, but we should win by a comfortable margin (at least 2TDs). I say we win by 17 pts.

I agree completely. The emotions will keep it close for a good bit but UCA lost a lot of players over the last year and ASU still has the power running game left over from Roberts to line up and wear them down if necessary.

I agree. Im just doing my best to not get over confident...especially without having seen UCA play yet. They always seem to sneak up on someone.
